    Auto temp 2 :(

I’d keep looking for the metal can. The heat in that area is impressive on these 440s. Great job. Love the thread. Keep it up.

Newer synthetic compressor oil compatibility with R12 Freon.

Anyone know about using freon with newer synthetic compressor oil? I’ve heard using R134 in older systems with freon need to be flushed to use synthetic oil. But I’ve never heard the reverse. I want to use R12 because the expansion valve, evaporator and condenser are all sized for R12. My...

    Ac blower motor speed

no complaints on mine.... But in rebuilding it I noted a lot of areas that could accumulate leaves and other debris as well as multiple “leak” points that can all work to kill airflow efficiency. Sorry there is no magic bullet for this.

74-78 ATC II to Manual A/C Inspection (and conversion??)

Have you checked the vacuum canister? If ok then check the direction damper actuator on the top of the box for a leak. Both would give you the symptom you mention of shifting direction due to vacuum loss.

74-78 ATC II to Manual A/C Inspection (and conversion??)

I indeed did use a needle. Pins are too soft. But first I put the check valve on a hand held vacuum pump. To help gauge the size I had made. I start with the smallest needle in my wife’s sewing kit going up in size and when it takes about 20 sec to lose all vacuum in a 12” length of hose I...

I made a small pinhole in the diaphragm inside the valve.

74-78 ATC II to Manual A/C Inspection (and conversion??)

Reading along on this one..... as well. Hmmmm vacuum pump. I’m thinking it’s more like a million little leaks you can’t ever hope to fully correct. Vacuum motor seams, diphrams, hoses on both sides of the cowl, control switches and valves all with micro leaks 40 plus years on. I had a 77...

Original a/c setup versus going all new on a 71 fury

A bargain indeed! Flush, compressor, clutch, dryer and belts all for $360 plus free gas and install..... You must be livin right! I've noticed that hot shot and 134 are both getting kind of pricey. I've been getting R12 for between $16 and $20 bucks a can.... If i buy a a few at a time. Last...

blower motor location on a 72 newport?

Fender inner splash has to come out.... Pain in the a** ! be sure it's the fan by hot wiring it first.... Usually the problem is in the control panel. The fan plug gets overheated and loosens, generating greater resistance til it overheats , melt and breaks contact.... I've seen it in every one...

Original a/c setup versus going all new on a 71 fury

Jim, you may also want to run it with a low charge for a bit to check for leaks..... I would change all the component seals while apart making the above vacuum test even more important. Finally, for you 400/440 fans... The length of the belts between the alternator and the compressor is so...
