At least on a fuselage body, a poor design in my opinion. However if this gets clogged the water will flow horizontally and drain out the sides and exit via the lower cowl drains, located behind the kick panels/rear of fenders. Not sure what year car the OP has or how the other eras are...

Suggest to pull the cowl vent screen and the kick panel vents, pull the front carpet, vacuum it out then flush out with a high pressure hose spray. Make sure the drain holes at the bottom are cleared. This is a commonly neglected area - out of sight, out of mind...until problems arise. Never...

Perhaps instead of using masonite, cardboard, or other organic material, you could use sheet plastic in identical/similar thickness? Such as ABS or acrylic. Buy a bulk sheet and cut to shape...

Has anyone ordered a vinyl top from Legendary? I was looking on their site and they offer tops for C-bodies. So I requested samples and got them within a week's time.... I'm going to eventually need a new top on this '71, but no way in hell I ever want to deal with the jamokes at SMS again....

I took mine apart a few years ago and didn't find any contacts to clean. Instead, there were small silicon nubs under each button that appeared to be impregnated with metal powder. I guess squeezing them creates an electrical path? 1967 might be different.....

Your upholsterer or trim shop will supply the foam. They usually install it in layers it with the harder foam on the bottom and more fluffy material on top. Ask if Legendary will sell you material to match the seats and have your trim shop make new headrest covers. 193 days sounds like a dream...

Suggest tying the zig-zag springs together with 16 ga. kraft-covered wire, fastened to the zigzags with 3-prong spring clips. One or two locations across the seat bottom. Run to the edge and bend and fasten to the perimeter/edge wire. link to page 22 with above items: Untitled Document...

Thanks Steve. The headliner in your T&C was excellent. The problem is I'm sort of locked in with SMS because it was pre-paid. Do you know if he makes vinyl tops with heat-sealed seams? I have an original top on mine. SMS is making it again for the third time, we'll see what happens next....

The more I try to help them, the harder they fail. I suggest placing your expectations very low, that way you won't be as disappointed.

I have been very patient and cordial with SMS with every interaction, so far. However, with the constant disappointment I'm experiencing, they are slowly turning me into a militia member.

My installer finally had a look. He recently moved about 150 miles away and had to plan a trip down here. So the verdict is that that top is fooked. It's cut too short, plus he noticed things I didn't...the seams are lopsided, uneven, and don't line up where they're supposed to. All that...

I really hope it works as-is. Even though I can't replace the top now 'til next summer, I would like this ordering phase to be over with. Plus it would be a shame for this "new" 40 year old vinyl to go to waste. :wideyed:

Received the top! I am wondering if the RH side was cut a little short, though.... With the top aligned and centered it lays out just up to the back of the stainless trim front and back. Of course it will stretch but how much. This is in 50 deg F temps too.... The LH side has a generous...
