    TRW power steering pump

I swapped mine for a saginaw because it leaked, I cobbled up rebuilding it, and I managed to find an RV saginaw bracket with a good pump on it. I didn't notice any difference in how it feels though? maybe mine was just a little well cooked and wasn't making full pressure?

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

I got the other one off and got some more pictures. I'm starting to think the last mechanic didn't earn all the praise I've given him... I'm not going to name names because I don't know if it may have already been like that. The mangled bushing pin actually came out of the straight control arm...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

Right now I'm doing upper and lower arms, bars, sway bar, thrust arms, and leafs. I plan on eventually doing the steering box and a rear sway bar as well as my budget allows.

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

It's worn through the rubber, the sleeve, and I think into the pin... I'm sending the arm in to Firm Feel for the welded plate, bushings, and powder coating. As long as they don't tell me my arms are destroyed I should be ok.

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

I finally got around to tearing things down. I got one arm out last night and am hoping to get the next out tonight. Overall everything came out with minimal violence required. One of the benefits of oil everywhere I guess... It certainly looks like the LCA bushing is in worse shape than I'd...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

I didn't realize you were so close. My parents are northwest of Indy so I'm around there pretty often. I might shoot you a message if I can make it work next time I head that way. It'd probably be best to aim for stopping by on my way up. I usually work on my 63 Dodge bus while I'm there so I...

Whatever you do don't get the SSBC kit. I'm still running mine but its been endless issues from the start.

Roads mostly but I've gotten close in a particularly flat field. Check out my T56 thread if you want to be angry.

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

This sounds more like what I would expect. With lots of low mileage cars around I could see the expectation of them being good "forever" coming about. I can't imagine that my 250,000 mile springs are as good as new. Everything has a duty cycle and there are only so many times you can twist a...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

The Dead show was great. I decided to spring for pit tickets since this is the first and likely last time I'll get a chance to see them. There were a few older folks who seemed to have forgotten what a pit is and were being rude to everyone around them but once we got away from them it was a...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

I think you're the forst person I've heard from who has actually driven a car with them. How do they ride other than "more modern feeling"? From my conversations with the Firm Feel rep I assume all the comments about riding like an ox cart are overstated? Did you put any of the other parts on my...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

I'd like to increase handling. Id assume that negative camber would explain why I keep having to replace tires after eating the sidewalls up... It'll still be a giant car and I doubt I'll entirely get rid of body roll. I just dont want to have people swearing they saw me lift a tire...

    disc brake conversion....stock or aftermarket?

I have an SSBC Conversion. Don't give SSBC your money... I got the kit with mismatched parts that didn' fit together (soft lines were the wrong thread for the caliper). The kit was sold as working with the factory booster (maybe if I could apply 600lbs to the pedal). The pads that came with...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

Those are the police bars right? I'm still not sure one way or the other. I really wish I knew someone with police bars so I could go for a ride and see if I want that or stiffer. Are the police bars "performance car stiff" like a track built car or just a bit stiffer than stock. Not going all...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

One of their steering boxes in on the list. I recently had to mess with the valve body on mine but otherwise haven't torn into it. My rag joint is a little long in the tooth as well so it'll get replaced. All the other steering parts were replaced in 2016 and are luckily in good shape and tight...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

The Napa stuff was old and I assumed Napa=good. After it blew up I decided to read the fine print on the back that said it was for drums only. The stuff I have now is Valvoline but I don't know if its the Ford Spec. Old stuff that hardly contains the grease anyway gets tubes of Harbor Freights...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

Interesting. I assume you are talking about the lower control arm bushing here as the pictures I've seen look like it has an interior and exterior metal sleeve. Wouldn't the greasable pin negate the wear issue there assuming you add it to your regular greasing schedule? I always assumed urethane...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

wouldn't any spring offer less resistance when less loaded including coils? I really don't have much experience with coils as most of my stuff is on the antique side. The best trick I've found so far for not eating steering wheel is to drive slightly less like a moron. I'm learning but not quite...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

Firm Feel sells the Billsteins. I originally intended to buy them but needed a fast replacement for my blown up Monroes before the last road trip. I really don't know on the torsion bars. I am no master mechanic and have heard every opinion on them including a guy swearing they were so great I...

Front End Rebuild - Firm Feel or any other options?

The urethane-rubber combo set up sounds interesting but I'm pretty set on trying it out. Worst case I'll learn my lesson and tear it back apart. They sell them so clearly someone has run them and I haven't heard of any cars falling apart on the freeway. The previous rubber was not NOS. I was...
