    headlight switch rebuild

I have no info for you but I'm interest in what you find out about rebuilding it. I was never able to find the correct part number switch for may car so I'd also like to have my original rebuilt if it's reasonable. Also, have you looked for a replacement switch? I'm not familiar with that...

    Car stereo upgrades

This is another area where I think you get what you pay for. Sure you can run down to walmart and put together a throw-away set up for $2-300 that will make noise, for a while, but a quality system with good sound will cost a little bit of money.

    Upgrade electrical 65 newport

How much power do you need? Are you talking just a head unit and 4 speakers which really shouldn't require any "upgrade". Or are you talking 8 speakers, 4 amps and a trunk full of subs? <that will not be received very well on this site btw.

    "Refreshing" a battery

I'm not familiar with "colrhersey" switches. Almost every battery selector switch that I've seen has been within a few feet of the batteries. I think I've seen one around a console. He might not have put one in. You just have to trace the wires and see. Homebuilt/wired stuff can be a hell of a...

    "Refreshing" a battery

8 Years is getting toward the end of a typical battery life. I'm interest to see if it works. I've heard 50/50. Did he not wire in a battery switch like this? If not, it's a good idea so you can isolate the house battery form the starting battery.

    "Refreshing" a battery

Go for it. There are old VW shops already doing it with success, but that's a much different car and demographic. It's not for me, but if you do it, I'll watch for real world results/experience. Vacuum advance is dead....aftermarket distributors any good?

@halifaxhops Are you rebuilding these canisters? It looks like you joined the site about a year or two after I had to hunt down a replacement. I might should to pick up a spare.

Vacuum advance is dead....aftermarket distributors any good?

I was in that situation a few years ago and was about to give up. But I lucked up and found a like-new looking one in a box of vacuum advance canisters at a local swap meet (ignition parts guy). Cost me $5. I know it's a weird year for shows/swap meets, but if your distributor is in good shape...
