I have no info for you but I'm interest in what you find out about rebuilding it. I was never able to find the correct part number switch for may car so I'd also like to have my original rebuilt if it's reasonable. Also, have you looked for a replacement switch? I'm not familiar with that...

This is another area where I think you get what you pay for. Sure you can run down to walmart and put together a throw-away set up for $2-300 that will make noise, for a while, but a quality system with good sound will cost a little bit of money.

How much power do you need? Are you talking just a head unit and 4 speakers which really shouldn't require any "upgrade". Or are you talking 8 speakers, 4 amps and a trunk full of subs? <that will not be received very well on this site btw.

8 Years is getting toward the end of a typical battery life. I'm interest to see if it works. I've heard 50/50. Did he not wire in a battery switch like this? If not, it's a good idea so you can isolate the house battery form the starting battery.
