'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Still here, just been busy and distracted. Still need a bumper, sent you a PM. Sorry it took so long.

Okay, tried to message but it says your inbox is full. This was after I tried to msg and it said I was at my limit. One of those nights....

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Dang, that bumper looks pretty good to me. So long as it's not bent up or rusty, it'd be fine. Cloudy, dull, scratched, whatever. Of course, getting it from CA to VA would be the challenge. Shipped a rear bumper for a '52 F-1 pickup once from OH to NC for under $50 as I recall. Wasn't much to...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Thank you for the kind words. It has not been easy with mom on many levels. Taking care of her from afar is taxing for sure, but also her 'receding' memory (she can tell me what she put in my lunch in 4th grade but asks me 4 times during a 15 minute trip where we're going) as well as just the...

    1966 Imperial Crown convertible

I'll be curious to hear what you find as far as little quirks or such. I find it a lot more difficult to get inside doors and under the dash lately. 4 days should give you enough time to leisurely go through it without having to throw it all back together by the end of the day. Not sure when...

Haven't yet gotten to my A/C, not expecting much, though. Just now catching up on all of your posts for the last couple years, Patrick. Sorry for the loss of your dog. My buddy of 14 years has been gone since '96, still miss him. What was the outcome with your DS back window, or is it still...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Well boys & girls, it's been a busy coupla years here. The Imp has been on the back burner more or less since the move in 2019 with only slight attention paid to it and the occasional start up and move around. Did at least get the coolant changed out last fall so it's fresh. Still needs an oil...

    1966 Imperial Crown convertible

Good luck. Definitely going to keep watch on your window motor saga. On mine, all work slow and the DS rear window went down and won't come back up. Weird thing was - I was pushing the button on the driver's door forward (up) and it still went down. The back switch seems to work right but I...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Thanks Matt & cat! We got a nice place on a small lake (pond, really) because it needs a bit of.....repair. It's out in the country and quiet overall, which is the best part. That's dad's '50 Lincoln in the background, drove it down from VT to northern VA a couple years back after he passed on...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

......and we're back. Still getting settled in at the new place, getting things done on the honey-do list and making good progress overall. Hope everyone is weathering the virus storm well. Still going round and round with the shop that did my work. They "lost" (or clipped) $50 worth of NOS...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Well......where to begin....? Survived another move, the third one in 11 years. Last one as far as I'm concerned. Closed on July 26th with the movers waiting to unload. Currently painting rooms and still unloading boxes. Located about 45 minutes WNW of Richmond about halfway to Charlottesville...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Thanks Matt, no rush as I'm up to my *** in alligators with all the house/packing/moving stuff. I saw the ones you snagged on here recently, they looked better than the set I'm repainting. The plan is to use this set as practice covers and put together a dent-free set later. I'll get some...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Back for another quick update. Things have been busy here with the next house move imminent. This place went on the market yesterday and we've already had 5 showings. Still have a LOT of packing up to do. At least the repairs and cleanup work around here are mostly done so *maybe* I can eek out...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

It's an older meter, they can be found on ebay and at shows for $50-$60 or so all the way up to $200-$300 with case, accessories, etc. The displays have a tendency to get weak, fixed by re-seating the connections on the module. Easy to use and read from a distance.

Which one you looking at Bob? If it's the digital volt meter, it's a Fluke 8060A. Older meter but works well and easy to read. Gary: I call those emblems chickens because they look similar to the eagle on the hood of the old Trans Ams which are 'affectionately' referred to as the screaming...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Here's the latest - Stopped over yesterday, car was down off the lift but still awaiting the tank installation & exhaust. Brakes are all done, new tires are on, transmission has new filter & fluid. Not sure if they're done the coolant and oil changes yet. When they pulled the right rear drum...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

So on we go.... The new tires arrived Friday and were dropped off Saturday. I left explicit instructions that the aftermarket granny spoke hubcaps were not to go back on the car, bare nekkid lug nuts would look better to me. In reality, I tracked down a set of original caps last year but just...

'66 Imperial Convertible Rebuild: A Fresh Start

Heh, I was just posting in your rebuild thread when the alert popped up, Rip. Too funny! They do everything, and if they don't, there are numerous other shops in the same building. The place is HUGE, like a giant car & hot rod incubator. I'm heading back over in a few to drop off a part, I'll...

    The SAGA Begins - '66 300 Convertible

Well, Rip....I don't know what to say. Took me a few nights of reading here and there to catch up on your project. All I can say is - wow! I mean, your "parts car" looks to be as nice as your project? How does *that* happen?? The 440 transplant looks beautiful, as does everything else you've...
