I had to replace the stub frame (front sub frame) in mine. Apparently, the batteries used to leak and the acid would run into the frame rails below the battery and then collect in the end of the frame under the drivers seat. That is the rear frame attachment point. It is hard to see and I missed...

The spanner ring does not want to move, so I guess I'll just do the seal. That screw idea did the trick! Thanks Big John.

Having trouble with mine. I have the pulley off. Then the FSM says to thread their special tool into the shaft seal and pull it out. I do not have any threaded portion and the seal is flush with the housing. I do see a notched ring that is nor shown in my FSM. I assume that this ring rotates...

Did you just do the seal and o ring or the bearing too? By the way, that engine is much too clean for 22 years out.

The seal included in the kit is for the shaft, so that will be the same. The O rings included in the kit, seal the reservoir to the pump. All one kit. Don't know how a different reservoir would work.

Carbs are not that hard to rebuild. It might be a good experience for you. That is if the carb is still there and rebuildable. If you go to another carb you will start to run into linkage issues and choke options. For your first try, I would recommend keeping everything the same before changing...
