This is the Z retainer on the driver's side, so the raised portion is towards the front of the car. I believe there are just the 3 visible screw holes and the forward end just floats there, but will try to double check that this weekend.
I did my top a couple of years ago. There may be some pics in this thread that will help?
Most of the well liner is attached the same way as the top itself. On top of the sheet metal is the well liner, the top (both the main top and the rear curtain in the corners) the metal retainers that...
I've had trouble with bad ground connections between the socket and the housing. What happens if you add a jumper wire from the socket body to good ground somewhere?
I'm another satisfied Legendary customer. I will say that you might check with Dante's Mopar Parts. I got some of my interior through them cheaper than ordering from Legendary directly. No, I don't understand it either. :)
1967-68 Chrysler 300 & Newport Convertible Tops and Convertible Top Parts
I got one for my '65 from them a year ago, and the top was made by Kee. I assume the '67-68 would be as well, but those years have the glass window, so might be different supplier?
The top seems fine, and the price was...
Unfortunately they are mirror images.
Looking through the parts books, it looks like they are only found on C-body convertibles 1965-68 and Imperial convertibles 67-68
I believe this is the part. When the top goes up & down, the bottom edge of the vertical window channel brushes against the seal and probably causes them to fail with age. It is a pretty complex shape, so would be tricky to make a new one.
I think the pictures are often better in the original paper books than the scans, so I have those for my car's year. However for looking up other years to compare things, the MyMopar site has some Service manuals and all of the parts books from 1955-74 as PDFs...
I don't think there's any way you could fit a glass window in that top well. If you look at the 67-68 convertibles the top extends back much closer to the trunk openning, so the top well is wider.
I picked up one of those chronometers at the junkyard a while ago, and I want to dissasemble it to clean it up. Does the mechanism come out of the housing through the front or the back of the metal case?
