My bother-in-law is a pro auto painter. Yes, he puts many many hours into preparation.
I suppose a painter could replicate that with various masks (it sure does not look airbrushed).
Edit: On closer inspection, I guess it could be airbrushed.

My brother-in-law is a professional auto painter and said the vinyl shows none of the underlying colour through.
You can get vinyl printed for commercial advertising on vehicles so printing wood grain makes perfect sense!
I recently bought a 1968 Newport Convertible and the drivers side rear quarter window is broken.
I've called around locally but no shop seems to be able to get one.
