Can you help a Small block Chevy guy understand a 1962 Chrysler 413 with cross-ram manifold? - compression and pump gas?

The big everyday fun with the long ram intake is the massive part throttle mid-rpm/range torque.

Carburetor for 1978 Chrysler New Yorker with 400 engine

See if it has a little removable tin bucket with a gasket. If it does, leave the bucket and gasket bolted down.

Can you help a Small block Chevy guy understand a 1962 Chrysler 413 with cross-ram manifold? - compression and pump gas?

My Dad had a 413 long ram about ten years ago. It was resistant to available 93 no-lead. So, we set about changing a few minor things. At 6 degrees initial at 600 rpm, it still stayed on the idle circuit and didn't get into the transfer slots. Then we turned our attention to tuning the...

Carburetor for 1978 Chrysler New Yorker with 400 engine

These GM HEI distributors work well in the Mopar big and small blocks. And, they accept the 7-degree while cranking retard module. All service parts are at the auto store up the street.

pictures of my harmonic balancer - advice?

Harmonic balancers are on my don't install used list, unless I removed it from the car and it's a known good item. Or I have no other option.

440 swap or build the 383?

In the mid-seventies I had a 68 Road Runner 383/auto/3.55 that would not run with my 69 Dart GTS 340/auto/3.55. Apparently, the little Dart 340 made more power than Dodge said it did. Anyway... I also had a heavy 66 Fury (Sport?) 440/auto/3.23. It was much slower than the other two. Alot...

Goldie will get her orginal heads reconditioned.

No, I don't. I think it was a 544 lift, 230 duration, and 114-lobe separation "OR" center line, I don't remember which. I didn't idle smooth at 600 rpm. But did idle well at 700. It came on early and shut down abruptly, at about 4800, I think. More power but when it was done it was done. Like a...

    Engine Bogging?

Plumb a temporary fuel pressure gauge just before the carb. Mount it outside the car on the cowl. If the pressure drops under load, put a temporary electric pump in the same location before the gauge. Retest.

Goldie will get her orginal heads reconditioned.

The 413 heads were in good condition and hated the local premium gas. And I was driving it a lot on the wrong gas for the seats. The power band didn't move. The difference is it stops abruptly at the same max rpm now, the same rpm where the original 413 cam rolled off into an unusable rpm...

Goldie will get her orginal heads reconditioned.

I went with 1976 440 heads on a 63 413. It showed no noticeable loss of power that I could tell for usual driving habits. Plenty of torque left to move the car. So, I then put a long duration, wide separation, no overlap cam in it to get back some of the compression. It now has a lot more...

So, with the motor out of the car, you're going to remove the oil pan, and drive it out from the bottom?
