Asking for a little tech help understanding 1961 Chrysler power brakes.

I remover the valves on the 67 drum master to work with the 78 Cordoba disc and calipers. The plan was to replace it with the 67 disc master, but it's working fine for now. I may never change it. The Cordoba caliper is 3 inch, I think.

Asking for a little tech help understanding 1961 Chrysler power brakes.

The whole 11.75-disc/caliper/spindle setup from a 78 Cordoba works good on my 64. I think it works on the 61 as well. Do check that before jumping in the water. Other related stuff. I used the dual master from a 67 drum car because it was on the car from when I was still using drum brakes. The...

    The wanderer

This symptom can be caused by "any" amount of negative tow out on an otherwise good setup. Is there "any" resistance to steering the car then the steering wheel is "dead straight ahead" while the car is idling on jack stands under the lower control arms? Any at all?

A Wrapup of Goodbye and Good Riddance

Wandering. Just my experience here. I've never found a new steering part to be tight. When I install them and turn them individually, they always turn freely. I had to learn the details of the steering boxes just as I had to learn the cause and effect of the steering geometry and alignment...

Tech tip: How to align ur own suspension at home

I know what the tires are and what they do. I grew up with them. I didn't suggest radial tires are inferior. I did say they have a slow speed thump. And it does sound like you are telling me how I like my cars alignment to behave. Again, I know what all of it does. Negative camber or a lot of...

1964 New Yorker gets 1978 Cordoba 11.75-disc brakes.

I didn't expect the booster to provide excellent performance. But I'm not surprised that it does. It was the usual case of start at the beginning and go until the jobs done. Fortunately, a new booster was not part of the job.

Tech tip: How to align ur own suspension at home

I didn't say bias tires. I said bias belted tires. The bias belted tires ride really good around town, no radial thump.

Tech tip: How to align ur own suspension at home

Driving Super Modified was not one of my smarter ideas. A short little 1800-pound open wheel car running a big block Chevy at full tilt hitting 180 mph, gee, what can go wrong with that. I decided its best use was as a spectator sport. Let's get some tickets and popcorn.

Tech tip: How to align ur own suspension at home

The chart from post 20 are the same #s we've been using for the last 50 years since racing super modified cars. It doesn't mention C bodies. But it applies to them also. It does suggest that there is no need for a lot of negative camber and positive caster unless we want to go sporting around a...

Tech tip: How to align ur own suspension at home

The sticker says AMMCO MODEL 3620 TOE GAUGE. A search for "ammco optical toe gauge" turned up not some stuff, not much, mostly the patents. I think a person could make one with the pin lasers and magnets that are available now. Some threaded gas pipe, an elbow/tee, a flange for the magnet with...

Tech tip: How to align ur own suspension at home

Radial tires were standard on all Chrysler cars by 1979, and Chrysler still set the big cars up at 3/4 positive caster and camber. My point is that a car can be setup to do as desired. I would love to get my hands on a new set of those old type of bias/belted tires.

    Disc brake conversion kits

And those discs are 11.33 diameter? That's more than Mopar gave us on a lot of cars bigger than that 65 Mustang.

Tech tip: How to align ur own suspension at home

How many ways are there to skin a cat? Many. People are pushing for negative camber and more positive caster setup, but it may not be what a person wants. They say it increases road feel. Do we really want to feel the road? Apparently Chrysler didn't think so. Another description for road feel...

    Disc brake conversion kits

THE RAM MAN did a YouTube video about that kit application for those cars using that kit that he offers. I don't remember where he said he gets the spindle or the caliper, both hard to come by. I think he said he is having the original spindle reproduced and the pin slider calipers are...

How necessary is brake swedging for these hubs+drums?

I felt the same way. But I did obtain the cutter when the car demanded new drums.

How necessary is brake swedging for these hubs+drums?

They question I ask is why were they swedged in the first place? I suspect the answer has something to do with assembly line productivity and nothing to do with the operation of the car. Or it was necessary to balance the drum and hub as a unit. Now you have new drums, so that's out. No, the...

    Caliper beyond repair?

The seal doesn't ride in and out in the caliper well with the piston like a seal on a rear wheel cylinder piston does. Your new piston will ride on the stationary seal that you haven't removed yet. So, you will have a new piston sealing on a new sealing surface. Inspect the seal mating groove...
