    Why I drive old cars.

The 1959 GM and Ford cars used an A pillar that slanted forward. A most deadly sin as seen in the vid. Fortunately, Chrysler didn't do that.

    Who's in the eclipse zone?

It was total here, clear sky. But it didn't result in darkness at ground level. The big deal was the effect it had on the surrounding landscape lighting. Contrast like I've never experienced before. For about 4 minutes the conditions were perfect for working outside in the yard, like cutting the...

What did you do to your C-body today....

I spent some time with wiring diagrams for a 72 New Yorker and a mid 80 Caprice. The objective is to use the new $50 Caprice master window switch and pigtail in the 72 C instead of the absent $200 Chrysler switch plus new pigtail. It fits in the Chrysler switch mount perfectly and appears to use...

After driving a 66 Dart 170ci, 3 on the tree, no ps, no pb, no radio in school, I never want to see another base car.

Retirement - what prompted you to do so?

I started buying rent houses right out of high school in 1976, simple VA assumptions. Not dumps, but they were all in poor condition. Those were the ones that had very little equity to buy out. So, buy the house, patch it up, rent it out. Wash, rinse, repeat. Dad turned me on to it because I...

If I didnt have bad luck......

The thought of having all the parts needed to finish a car before you even start working on the car is very exciting.

If I didnt have bad luck......

The loss of storage is a bummer. If you wish to continue to keep them covered (and you do), the $200 harbor freight 10x17 portable garage is the best bang for the buck. They last three to four years in full sun and have as much roof pitch and pipe diameter as you can get with an economy setup...

Why you can't buy a new small truck.

My 93 Dakota cost about a grand less than a full size in 93. It's a handy size. They put it together rather well. It's been easy to service over the years and 300k miles. I don't think Dodge designed it. They paid another American design house.

    Why I drive old cars.

I think part support and cost of repair will play a big part in the disposability.

    Why I drive old cars.

I readily accept the increased maintenance and more frequent incident of repair that comes with the old cars. The alternative is not good. A new car every five years or a five-year-old car that's out of warranty. I am nervous without the air bags but have decided to drive without them. That and...

    1989-1993 New Yorkers and Imperials

The 1990-93 Chrysler New York Fifth Ave as well as other Chrysler Corp products of the same era have a really nasty Bendix brake actuator piston assembly and the pump-motor assembly anti-lock master cylinder setup. They fail. They stuck a deal with the NHTSA to provide a brake warranty (instead...

    PROTECTION

The most affordable way to effectively cover and protect a car stored outside is with a good no contact tent. About $50 a year.
