My 66 Newport turned 66,666 today!

And you planned ahead by resetting the trip meter when it was at exactly 66,000 too.

    Performance indicator swap

I bought an aftermarket tach and swapped it into the housing. I had to fabricate a bit of bracketry to hold the tach mechanism in place. That was over 20 years ago and I can't find any pics of what I did, but it's definitely doable. :)

'66 300 Rag Joint. "am I the crazy one?"

I doubt that the metal shield over the rubber steering coupler was to prevent it from gravel or other road debris. that is the first I ever heard of that idea. In 1966 the shield is mostly above the coupler, not below it, where gravel kicked up off the road would come from. It wasn't until later...

Looks like rocker guard sprayed on the inside floorpan. Perhaps the roof was leaking? Lots of overspray on the interior anyhow. :(

    Whos going to Carlisle?

Thanks Leaburn! I am driving it down. I have some spare fluids, parts and tools packed just in case, and all my cleaning supplies to clean it back up when I get there.

    Whos going to Carlisle?

Thanks Ross! Hope to chat with you guys that are attending the show, and meet for a group picture if there is one. I may be wearing the same shirt as in this picture, so say hi if you see me wandering around.

I just skimmed most of it, but I came to the same conclusion. I saw that he timed the engine without a timing light, was chasing an overheating problem and hard hot-starting (either of which could have been a result of incorrect timing), installed an electric fan blowing air the wrong way...

If you look at this forum thread that @69monaco found, I think it has all the same pictures not rolled into a video. https://professionalcarsociety.org/threads/my-1966-chrysler-town-and-country-ambulance.20750/

I was thinking more of the ad text. The original post only includes the first couple sentences. Based on the pictures, comments here, and the forum thread that @69monaco found, it sounds like the seller tore the top end apart in 2020 due to an overheating problem which he suspected was a blown...

Cool car! I remember seeing pics of that floating around on the internet years ago. Looks like it's starting to show its age. I would've liked to see the Kijiji ad but it's been taken down.

    Phantom C bodies

I'm guessing you either don't have kids or they are older. Today kids have to be in a car seat for years, and modern kids car seats are HUGE. Trying to put a car seat into the back of a 2-door is a PITA. Putting a small kid in/out of one back there isn't much better. Once they're old enough to...

    Phantom C bodies

I remember reading about this car (must the same one!) that the Hemi was actually dealer installed, not done at the factory. Perhaps this is the thread you are thinking of. https://www.forcbodiesonly.com/mopar-forum/threads/1970-300-hurst-convertible-1-of-1-original-150-000-e-bay.18614/ Here...

    Turn signal option

My 66 Windsor came with the fender indicators and had lights in the dash as well when I bought it, though someone could have added them. My brother's 66 NYer had the fender indicators and I believe he said that there were no turn signal lights in the dash. He was working under the dash changing...

It´s time for the Slab picture thread

Sure looks to be metallic, and Turbine Bronze was a metallic paint. It may also be referred to as "poly" which was short for "polychromatic". That is a fancy name for metallic paint. :)

I finally got some good pictures with my hardtop and my brother's NYer together.

It´s time for the Slab picture thread

I see this was posted way back in June, but I bet they toss those display boards when they're done with them. I would have gone into the store to ask about acquiring it when they change displays and hang it in the den or garage.

    65 polara

Ross, I looked into this before and discs were definitely intended for police order only in 65. I found some literature to that effect in my research. I think there's a note about it in the factory parts book, or possibly it was a separate document. EDIT: Look here for details. For Sale -...

    How Different is a 1968 Newport from a 1966?

I thought it was 67, since they significantly redesigned the dashboard in 67 vs the 65-66 design, but perhaps the collapsible column was fitted in 68. I'm sure someone with a '67 will be along shortly to confirm either way. :)

    How Different is a 1968 Newport from a 1966?

One positive thing about the newer C-body: In 1967 they switched to a collapsible steering column. That means, in a serious front-end collision, the driver is more likely to survive instead of being impaled on the steering column.

    Nice NYer on FB...Engine?

It's just a game some of the guys play. Whenever someone posts a picture and there is a garden hose visible in it, the first one to spot it shouts HOSE! Congrats on purchasing that '65 NYer. It looks great!
