For sure. I quote that with a smile on my face. It’s the kind of toil I like!

Seen today. For sale. Would make a nice addition but an RV is too extravagant for me right now.

Polished and installed. Re-fanged. This vehicle conforms to all Federal Motor Vehicle safety laws applicable to model year 1973. So far as I know.

Thanks for the tip. I have heard cerium oxide paste is good for glass scratches too.

Teachable moment. I didn’t like the way the nuts were installing, so even though I brushed the threads previously with a wire brush, I stopped installation, pulled out my tap and die set and chased the threads with the die to clean them up. Also cleaned the nuts. 3-n-1 oil. 5/16 NC (“C” is for...

1973 Federally mandated bumper guards. Note how the black rubber part protrudes. I believe 5-mph was the ‘No damage’ threshold.

I got the bumper guards out of the attic. Going to have to do some mix and match with the (1) replacement pad I got. And some cleaning…

A hardtop version…with a bull bar, 440, 140 mph speedo, and CA, WV, or Michigan State Police livery would look good. (WV had dark blue and gold, which I like.) And a big red (or blue) bubble light on top…of course. That says “move over”, very effectively.

Well, funny you should mention that. It’s my next project. Personally I prefer a cleaner pre-73 look. However - I recently decided - from a very practical standpoint, if that plastic grille ever gets damaged because I didn’t have the guards in place, I’ll be crying. So… they are going back on.
