    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

In case anyone is interested, I keep my cars relatively stock but always with a "good tune" (timing plugs wires etc all in good condition, I go through them every season) on them and that is what achieved the numbers above. All my Formals had/ have TQs, however with LB retrofits to Mopar...

    400 vs 440 in a 76-78 New Yorker - noticeable difference?

I've owned many Formals with the B & the RB plant. My opinion is that you can definitely feel the torque of the 440 vs the 400. My 77 T&C always amazes me on road trips with MPG numbers that defy reason. I got 19.6 MPG (my all time best...I normally would get 18.8) on the prairies last time...

    1978 New Yorker build thread

About the Imperial vs NY masters and boosters. Boosters are interchangeable. The 50-50 Imperial master is required for the 4 wheel discs if you still have them...you risk running out of fluid to the rear calipers otherwise.

78 NYB w/ 4k miles not for sale

Gorgeous car in the right colours...pity about the lack of skirts. Incredible preservation. Astonished at no evident varmint damage.

    Next steps? '77 NYB w/400 4-bbl

Regarding the LB question. If the computer on the air cleaner assembly is unplugged, then the LB is disabled. That should have been part of the orange box refit process...but I thought I'd mention it.

    1975 Imperial trunk lock medalion

The 74/75 Imperial lock cylinder cover had a plastic gasket behind it...speed nuts had goober on them to seal...like caulking strip/ play doh. Don't know about the 72/73 NY cover, but I presume it was the same.

    1975 Imperial build thread

Great work! Not enough of these cars get saved. Ntl Moparts should be able to hook you up with a Hood ornament and an Imperial script for the rear.

1975 Imperial barn find Odd Trim tag 5 series

Cuda hunter, I think the advice you received here is spot-on: $2500 as is for a dirt encrusted non runner. Is the interior fabric still soft and pliable or hard and ready to disintegrate...having a good interior for one of these is a huge factor. As you said $4000-6000 for cleaned up...

    1975 Imperial Build sheet

Thanks for saving this Imperial. Being an Onterrible car all it's life (serious rust belt), that will no doubt include some rust repair. I hope the rot isn't too bad.

Rear sway bar on the cop spec Furys?

Much appreciated PeugFra, I know I had seen it, but the documentation I had access to did not support it.

Rear sway bar on the cop spec Furys?

Actually I think it's more accurate to say that rear sway bars were available for the Formal police package cars, but actually are quite rare. Because of the Torsion bar suspension, and the fact that Mopars handled better than their counterparts, Chrysler Corporation was pretty slow to the...

Part needed Middle Seat of C Body Wagon 74 thru 77?

From the looks of it, someone stole the drivetrain for a Dart or something. Was it originally a 400 or a 440 car? I collected NOS parts for one of these for years in hopes of finding a car like my Dad had when I was growing up, but never did find one (his was a 74 Monaco Brougham wagon with a...

Part needed Middle Seat of C Body Wagon 74 thru 77?

Wow, nice save. Those are very rare nowadays. It's going to be tough getting anything for a Formal wagon, but you are in the right place to find parts. Murray Park should have something.

    Engine performance upgrade

I must correct you on one thing in particular. In 1978 the 400 could be had with a lock up torque converter. Some did...some didn't, but I have seen them. It's mentioned in the 78 brochure under availability...

Age old question - Fuel or Spark?

So a summary of my thoughts: It may be a bit of both (fuel and spark). The LB carb will be by its nature on the lean side which may be part of the issue...an easy check would be swapping to another known carb to see if things improve. If that narrows things down, then the TQ could be fattened...

Age old question - Fuel or Spark?

So my first question, since it's a LB TQ I presume you're not running ported vacuum?
