Headman Headers....do they ALWAYS burn plug leads and arc out on the headers???

In my experience ...yes Headers always cause aggravation (leaks/ burnt wires and cooked/ shitty access to starters). I went through that phase and have been firmly in the factory manifold camp ever since and have never looked back. This is an old conflict of opinions as old as RWL vs whitewalls...

    Let's see your tips

I had 71 Charger style tips on my 74 Imperial, but you won't see any pics because it looked stupid. I removed them and went with turn downs...a more conservative look that went with the car.

1974 Imperial 2 door exhaust system

The Imperial in question most likely was born with single exhaust which would have had a resonator as per the FSM. Many replacement systems deleted the resonator. I've never seen a Formal Imperial with stock duals...but that doesn't mean it never happened. By 74, duals on C bodies was pretty...

Once again, headers needed for a Fusey

Nobody makes headers for C bodies- especially an Imperial. Since you're serious about your build (and a 543 sounds serious) then weld your own. Only way that it will be right. Anything else is an exercise in hammering a part not made for your car.

    New Yorker 440 Exhaust Questions

I've been through the headers phase (on B bodies in my youth) and the burnt wires, rust out and exhaust leaks that came with them. I've been a stock manifold guy since and never had an issue. The most cost effective easy button here is a new set of valve cover gaskets. That being said, if you...

New challenger exhaust on a C

I think how they sound will be the most important factor...please report back as I'm curious. Dimensionally, they'll fit and likely be short compared to original C body muffs.

Exhaust for 74 Fury Gran Sedan

Accurate exhaust was the only game in town for Formals and they were fantastic. Sadly they've dropped their C body line. If you contact them maybe they can make one. Complete A Body Exhaust Systems

    2856361 ‘68 383 & 440 single exhaust resonator detail.

My 68 440 Dual has no resonators...from the rustiness of all the pipes, I think it's original still. The 360 hp 440 Dual option was only in 68. The only year you could get a factory HP option for the Imperial...at least according to the brochures.

    Hp exhaust manifolds fit formals?

Agreed, on a Formal the largest pipe that clears the Torsion bars is 2.5 inch. But super tight and will probably hit something under load and rattle.

    Hp exhaust manifolds fit formals?

Most Formals from 75 on came with the late version high flow manifold (You can tell by the high swoop from the front exhaust ports) as standard on the drivers side in order to clear the steering box. So you may only need the passenger side anyway. They are not as swoopy as the earlier versions...

    TTI Exhaust on Imperial

The 67-73 Unibody Imperials are indeed different than the Chrysler line. Imperial wheel base for the years mentioned is 127 inches versus 124 inches for the Chrysler. All of the added wheel base come from the unique Imperial stub frame that Catfish described so well. I imagine the TTI kit can...
