Looking to restore my 1972 Dodge Polara Custom

Yes, i enjoy that show.... actually, if i could afford to get it out there, i think Danny would enjoy doing the build. It's right up his alley... i lived in Vegas for a time on 2 different contracts i did. Done a lot of talking to all and sundry around here, but folks are aging out and don't...

Looking to restore my 1972 Dodge Polara Custom

Good ideas, thank you. Actually there is a lot of barn space around here, but again with the critter problems.... at least it would be inside. If i can find a shop to take on my project, though, i could maybe sell the Cordoba and work toward getting the Polara on the road and trade the storage...

Looking to restore my 1972 Dodge Polara Custom

Actually, i've done that. i have to do that every year when i put the Cordoba in storage, too. i should buy stock in Bounce lol.... But with the Polara outside, it's a constant war. i'm holding my own, but i'm not winning....

Looking to restore my 1972 Dodge Polara Custom

Appreciate your thoughts. i have looked at that possibility, but for what i want to ultimately accomplish such a process would require duplication of some aspects of the work (for instance the engine work will require removal, which is when bodywork/paint in the engine bay/wiring etc. should...

Looking to restore my 1972 Dodge Polara Custom

Very little rust, i see little evidence of mud. Car is in primer. Will need all bushings, but subframes are decent. Car spent much of its time in Florida, according to what i've been able to research.

Not Mopar Or C-Body Related BUT Restoration Related.....

Agreed on the non-ethanol gas, but it unfortunately is not available everywhere. i am lucky, i live in the Lakes region of Vermont, so there are lots of boats and resultingly a number of stations that offer non-ethanol premium. Good for me, since i drive a '76 Cordoba and an '85 W-150 pickup...

71 4dr Sports Fury needs a new vinyl roof, who makes the best one?

Once it's on, i've been told certain care products are NOT recommended. Anything petroleum based, i.e. Armor-all or similar products are bad. They seep through the vinyl and affect the bonding agent used to seal the top to the roof. Appreciate the thread, as someone who is in the market to...

Has anyone restored the red center cap to a Chrysler Cordoba aluminum wheel?

Interesting thread on hubcaps, paint and solvents. Filed for future reference. Late to the party, but i do have a question regarding Cordoba hubcaps.... i own a '76 with standard hubcaps, does anyone have knowledge of where i can find a good set? Mine are pretty tired, and 2 of them pretty much...

Looking to restore my 1972 Dodge Polara Custom

Also, i should mention.... i have a friend up here who has a property relatively full of cars. Practically none are restorable, they've been sitting since the 80s, but parts like switches, controls, trim pieces, a few hubcaps and exterior parts are salvagable. Mostly A and C body cars. He's...

Looking to restore my 1972 Dodge Polara Custom

i did find it, and thank you. My problem is i have nowhere to work on this car, i don't even have a good place to store it, it's been in the elements as i've been saving up. i've tried and largely failed to keep the mice out..... i have some knowledge as to mechanicals, etc. just not the source...

Looking to restore my 1972 Dodge Polara Custom

i have a 1972 Polara i am increasingly desperate to find a trustworthy shop to work with me to restore. i live in Vermont, and there are not many shops who are capable of this kind of work. i'd like to hear from some of you who may have knowledge of someone in the northeast i should contact...

    My '72 Dodge Polara project

i WILL continue this project, i promise. But considering where i live, there are people who would pay stupid money to aquire a car they intend to put in a Derby. i will NOT let that happen. Not with a Survivor car. The Polara is safe, it's not going anywhere. The 'Doba is vulnerable, and i...

    My '72 Dodge Polara project

Update 2: OK, the Polara project is on hold for awhile. i have found an Instant Driver... a friend of mine found a cream puff, 42,000 mile 1976 Cordoba. i will be taking possesion early next week.

    My '72 Dodge Polara project

Update: the 'black side stripes' indicate the inserts that slide into the molding that holds the inserts matching the paint scheme. Several colours of side molding were available, depending on body colour... This info comes from Scott Dodge, owner of Fair Haven Dodge in Fair Haven, VT (Yes- he's...

    My '72 Dodge Polara project

i've been searching and searching, but i haven't found what the paint scheme is supposed to look like. If anyone has a link that shows what the paint schemes from 1972 look like, i'd really appreciate it...

    My '72 Dodge Polara project

Thanks. The fender tag is a bit vague, not easy to read, this makes sense... might not be a letter in front of the code.

Pic 927, it's not clear but the dash has an emblem attached, 'Custom'. 'Polara' is embossed on the door panels

    My '72 Dodge Polara project

Pic 925... not easy to see, but the clock reads 01825. Obviously turned over, but i'm pretty sure only once. Sticker on the radiator core support lists a Florida service center. Most likely the car follows a familiar story... Dad buys a car. Works, retires, moves to Florida. Estate gives car to...

    My '72 Dodge Polara project

One thing is clear. The A/C is clearly MIA, and the connections on the firewall have been sheared off clean. Note pic 0933. (Sorry, i thought i had the focus more clean)
