South Jersey Area Convertible Top Shop

I had a top done back in 2017 in Moorestown NJ, excellent job and fast service at a reasonable price. I will be having my vert project done by them as well. Leather Upholstery|Moorestown,NJ|Moorestown Auto & Boat Upholstery Inc

How long are those blocks and did you make them by hand?

    Will these fit???

In my recent experience with a 4-door to 2-door '70 300 panel, the lower contours and the wheel opening are the same. However, the 4-door had a different tapper towards the end of the panel and the marker light holes might not line up. That said, I would avoid cutting below the marker, if you...

    Holy Roof Rust, Batman!

Just my 2 cents worth, but it’s not just about leaks or beauty. The roof panel is the major structure of a unibody. Once perforated it is no longer a sound structure. Consider a donor roof or extensive patches to weld in. What year and model are we looking at?

    1969 300 grill on a new yorker.

There are two sets of brackets, one attaches to the grill, the other to the inside of the fenders to hold the light buckets. The torsion rod that goes through the electric motor is unique to the ‘69, and of course the wiring harness and under dash relay will be upgrades. Not sure what you...

Thanks. I didn't really want to spend the time cutting out all those holes, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a reason for it.

Old thread, but I'm coming up to this point in my project. Is there any reason to cut out the body plug holes and then put the body plugs in? Or, should I put the plugs in first and then apply the Fat Mat over top?

CHRYSLER 300 CONVERTIBLE CHROME BOOT MOULDING - REAR SEAT

How will you thread the new boot into the metal bracket? I've looked at it and mine won't budge unless it it ripped out, I can't imagine getting a new one back in there.

CHRYSLER 300 CONVERTIBLE CHROME BOOT MOULDING - REAR SEAT

I found one in a scrap yard. The soft parts of the seat melt away and that's usually the only part that is left. Try Murray Park or head to Carlisle in July, you might get lucky. FWIW, the snaps idea is a great solution. I've always disliked having to flip the boot over the seat before...

    Bondo

Thanks for all the replies, I’ll be looking into Evercoat. @live4theking, I actually use All Metal to work into the welds after my patch work. Does a good job of sealing any remaining pin holes. @herbdog, beautiful car, nice work! Did you use any type of glazing putty on top of the mud...

I’m starting to do the mud work on the ‘70 vert. Anyone have any preference/recommendation on fillers and finish glazing? I’ll be top coating with BASF two stage enamel. The last time I bought filler was about 30 years ago, not sure if much has changed. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    What I've been up to...

I do the same thing, lol. From one not a metal man to another, that looks great. I also strive for structural integrity while trying to get close to the factory look. FWIW, my "English Wheel" is a naturally round log that I roll on the metal in the dirt, it makes very convincing curves, but...

    SCT tool from Eastwood

Thanks I've been looking at this as well. I still have a lot of paint striping to do. The new chemicals won't even touch the original coating, WTF, and my compressor will not keep up with the old DA. I spent about $800 in blasting the big panels last year, now I'm finding all kinds of warps...

Quiet method of cutting up a car ?

Lol, sorry, Matt, that was a case of “fat fingers”. Those cutters are the best out there, make sure to use plenty of oil. My suggestion is to invite the locals to cut the car up, they will have lots of fun and get rid of “that nieghbor’s junk car” at the same time.

Before you do that, cover the cowl with plastic and run some water over the windshield to check the seal.

    Fuselage fender removal

You cannot remove the fender without removing the hood unless you want damage to other parts and possibly the windshield. If there is water coming in from the cowel, it’s likely not just clogged, and you will have to remove all those parts anyway. Before you do any of that check the heater core...
