What a disgrace! Forever and ever you will always know that rusty old lower bearing is helping to turn your wheels! :poke:    As usual, spectacular!

I was thinking this same thing. My hood was perfect before the mobil blaster warped the hell out of it. I forgot that the trunk lid is pretty much sealed. Maybe you can get away with a skim coat?

BTW, this is what I used when I re skinned my hood: A small golf ball sized amount at various locations will stop the metal from wobbling.

Is that some sort of expanding foam? I doubt any rattle can product would be able to shrink metal like that, more likely pushed it up in places where it expanded.

I have the same dome light and housing from my '73 NYB, they must have used the same throughout the Fuselage years, it is probably going to be easy to find. If your '69 had the dome light originally, what happened to the bracket?

Curious about the blackout on the doors, was that how it was originally? I have only ever seen that when there is a white interior and then the doors are partially painted white.

That’s more along of what I was thinking, or peeling back the edge, then using a hammer to “re-fold“ it back into place. This method is certainly easier.

Thank you, that shows a lot. Basically, he put a bead of weld along the door edge while the door was on the car, and then finished the edge while checking the gap. I wouldn’t have thought of that.

Can you elaborate on what modifications were made for better gaps? I have trunk gap issues I would like to fix.

That took a lot of force to put a dent in that, looks like it was done on purpose. Perhaps some azzho!e inspector upset they had to pick up a very heavy object.

So I bought this one today.

Nice! I’ve used plenty of “date correct” metal on my projects, fresh steel is just not as good and expensive.

I’ve been going through this now as well. Shows like “Garage Squad“ drive me crazy when they reinstall rusty parts because they are “good enough”. I’d be polishing every bolt. I’m also finding that parts I bought 10 years ago either don’t fit, don’t work or are just plain wrong! At least you...

Great job Matt, love the paint work. @Isaiah Estrada, once you take that ‘68 for a test drive, you may not want to sell it……

As everyone else has said, it’s a joy to watch your progress and over the top incredible results. I do, however, shake my head a lot, especially with the plating of every nut, bolt and clip, but it’s your money, LOL. As for painting, I have been going through mine, painting all of the...
