Nice work! Being of a certain age, I’m always mystified at how “you tubers” make money, lol. So, Allen finally let you into the O Gauge forum? I thought he was trying to keep the riff-raff out, lol. One of my threads got pulled because someone tried to start a convo about the Chrysler 300 in...

Ya think? Reminds me of this guy.... Still, I like it and am jealous of your ability to expand the layout. That will be a nice long run.

Cool! I remember a lot of guys paying good money to have their conventional Lionels converted to DCS when this system originally hit the shops.

Yeah, the division shows are usually small. I go to the Atlantic division a couple of times a year. You can go to York as a guest. Once you go York TCA, you will plan your life around it, lol.

Did you join the TCA? Guess I’ll see you in April at the big convention in York PA, lol? I remember seeing Elliot Welz at York several times, he was a respected restorer and master craftsman. Now get to work on that overhead catenary for those GG1s.

Very impressive F3 collection! Now all you need to do is kick back and enjoy some Blue Comet single malt whisky in an official PRR scotch glass....

Something to think about for paint drying, I've seen people use a medium to large Home Depot cardboard box lined with aluminum foil, then hung a 100 watt bulb from the center to create a low temp easy bake oven. It only takes an hour or two and you get a very smooth baked on finish that won't...

Awesome job masking the shell! Don't worry about imperfections they often came from the factory that way. They were only toys, ya know... :usflag:

There was a guy back in the day, Charlie Woods, I think. He was highly recommended so I bought 8 spray cans, $50 worth, and when I got home only one of the cans worked, the others just sputtered chunks of paint. He sold the business shortly after that and I think a new guy is trying to...

That's gonna be a fun project. I'm actually looking forward to the fall and winter so I can get back into the train room. I would have thought there would be repro decals already available for Postwar F3s. Henning's paint is the best, it looks like that's what you are going to use. They also...

You could also run a loop of bare 14 gauge wire under the layout and solder feeder wires from the common rail every 10 sections or so. Have the loop end at a bus bar. Solder a wire from the hot rail and connect to the bus bar. Run the common and the hot wire from the transformer to the bus bar...

I don’t have any experience with the track, but found this review. It does seem to suffer from quality control. I think the modern Lionel tube track is twice the price, but the quality is as good or better than the vintage stuff. Thoughts on New Menards Tubular Track - Classic Toy Trains...

Nothing like running conventional! Clean them up and they just go. I showed my wife the video. All she said was “oh, and they run on a layout? All you have are ‘storage tables’.” :(

Nice score! The E unit works well in that 2016, that’s half the battle right there.

Good deal! These motors were built to last and very simple to work on. I have a similar problem with my f3 but I haven't had the time to rip into it. Is that an operating horse car behind the engine?

I only live a couple of hours away so it’s an easy day trip. Yeah, Lionel gave up the April event, but they will be there in October. I’m not really interested in the modern stuff, so no big deal to me. The halls were packed pretty good, lots of dealers with postwar, you would have gone broke...
