Has anyone ever won a car show with their C body?

The shows in my area are held by car clubs. If you’re not in the club you’re not really welcome and you’re sure not going to win anything.

1978 New Yorker Brougham 440; misfire above idle

That’s what I was thinking! No shame in that. Hopefully you’ll find the problem in the EGR valve. As suggested, I’d plan on blocking it off for sure. They are troublesome and not necessary at best unless you are required to have them where you live. They only work well when all the other...

I get the feeling you are confusing the PCV valve for the EGR valve. Are you sure we are all on the same page?

    78 NYB ?

I think as is, $2500 tops. Get it running, driving, stopping? Maybe a little more. Detailed pics of the true condition of the car, like frame, etc, would help in pricing. Myself, I steer clear of “pig in a poke” cars unless they are no brainer cheap and close by.

Hesitation when first putting foot on gas.

If you tighten the breather lid too tight on those carbs it can warp the top of the carb. The issue you are describing are all too common with those carbs. I suggest a 4bbl intake and carb upgrade. But I could be wrong. Take all advice you get with a grain of salt. And a couple aspirin.

I think I just bought this...

Oh, I’ll flip one in a heartbeat. This one? I bought it for $150 and sold it for $150 after spending half a day dragging it out of its would be grave. The work and parts that have been put on it since? All on me. If I like you, I’ll do anything for you. Hell, I’ll do a lot if I don’t like you...

I think I just bought this...

A little follow up on this car... while it no longer belongs to me, its still in my possession. The current owner (a buddy of mine) who is as slow about getting stuff done as I dont know what, hadn’t touched it. I couldn’t stand it any longer. I went through the carb yesterday and ordered a new...

Yup. I’ve seen a lot of depreciating assets such as motorcycles and 4cyl cars bought with borrowed money in the name of getting 10 more mpg.

I have to agree that owning a vehicle is a financial drain. If you buy a new one, well, that’s a no brainer. You’re losing money from day one. An old project car? Many guys will do some spectacular mathematical gymnastics to say they make money on these things when in fact, if your time and...

74-75 Fury or Monaco. What is the appeal?

I think more Monacos and Chargers were claimed by rust than by any one movie or TV series. Outside of a few c body fans such as ourselves there isn’t much demand for big 70s era 4 door sedans. If they all had survived, there probably wouldn’t be a home for each one of them. I have a 72...

Fascinating! I haven’t seen that setup. If it’s reliable, I’d install it!

How does that work? I’ve never seen such, myself. I always put air shocks on mine for such occasions.
