Did factory offer auto trunk release 1962 Imperial--I have a 63 unit

Even tho it may not have been offered, the 61-63 cars are nearly identical except for small trim pieces? I don’t see why you couldn’t simply install all the pieces and they’d probably fit fine

Does a 1964 Imperial need upgrades for 70mph?

Imperials came standard with 2.94 gears yes? Unless that’s maybe the later Fueselage years

Does a 1964 Imperial need upgrades for 70mph?

I think you’re asking if the stock configuration is fine to make long trips? Or if you need new fancy gadgets? Your stock one is fine. Assuming your Imperial is in good running order, the stock configuration is absolutely fine. Just make sure everything is in shape. Good alignment, ignition...

Bombing around in the beater Imperial

@BLIMP what do you do in terms of undercoating/rust prevention? Obviously I’d yku didn’t want it to have major rust you wouldn’t drive it but do you do an undercoating every year? Oil film under spray? No protection?

    '67 / '68 Imperial photos

Cruising around town in the fusie a few weeks ago, on the opposite side of the road passed an Imperial. 4 Door, Maybe a 67, probably a 68 in W1 Polar White. Chrome glistening in the sun. Wish I had time to take a picture. I’m determined to find and meet up with him! That thing was nice! Made me...

    69-71 Imperial photo harvest

The 69-71 Imperials are by far my favorite. (Don’t tell Doc I said that) Who doesn’t love gills? It only adds to the already large whale shark/ocean presence the cars give off.

    1973 tag decode

From 69-71, the 904 was designated as code “D31”. I believe they changed that starting in 72 to D34. As @69CoronetRT stated - he's seen D34 mated to a whole list of engines, so I can’t deny his experience. And common knowledge tells us “D32” (727) and a Slant 6 don’t belong. So possibly D34...

    1973 tag decode

D32 is the Heavy Duty TorqueFlite. D34 is listed as a TorqueFlite - as “light duty”. Nothing more. Moreover - D36 is also listed for applications as “A727 3-Speed Automatic Transmission”
