    My new 1970 New Yorker

Sorry, I had to do that. Looks like a great project you have. Be sure to keep us updated on your progress. Jeff

Elwood - 1968 Fury II 4 door sedan

You are looking for "glass setting tape". It's readily available, you just need to figure out what thickness you need. Jeff

Elwood - 1968 Fury II 4 door sedan

I'm pretty sure that the small metal wheels should be free to turn, but I'm not positive about the plastic wheel. I don't think that I've ever come across one that rotated freely. I would soak the assembly in the penetrating fluid of your choice for a few days and see what frees up. Jeff

1971 Chrysler Newport Custom 383, rebuilding in Europe

Could be any one of the components. Ballast is easiest to check: just jump across it with a wire. I believe there have been some complaints about the reliability of the Proform kits. There's a pretty good chance that the module has failed. Can't overlook the pickup in the distributor or a...

    1966 fury restoration

Thanks, but another FCBO member had one handy and got me the measurements. Sadly, it turned out that I didn't have the window that the member in Poland needs. Jeff

    1966 fury restoration

Great job on the car so far! I'm looking forward to seeing how things go. I'm not sure if we have anyone else that's installed a Tremec in a C body yet. I had plans to do so, probably 12 years ago, when Keisler was selling the kit for the A's. B's, and E's, but I never got to that project...

    What I've been up too

I just looked it up and the Canadian dollar was in the toilet in 2001. One Canadian dollar was only worth 65 cents US, so $41K Canadian was equal to $26.5K US at the time, which is around what I thought I remembered. BTW, you did a great job on the truck. I never expected that you would...

    What I've been up too

Remember, that's Canadian dollars. Comes out to a little less than $31K using the usual 75% exchange rate, though that still seems a bit high. I thought the early 2000's trucks were closer to $25K, but I could be wrong. Might have been a year that the Canadian dollar was weaker than normal. Jeff

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Just the high temp paint directly on the metal. Jeff

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Even though the makers of the engine paints say it's ok to spray them over bare metal, I think it's best to prime bare metal first. The only exception would be the exhaust manifolds, where you're using a super-high temp paint. Any type of self etching primer will work fine. Sometimes I use...

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Thanks. I've known the owner for more than twenty years and he wants to keep this truck till the day they put him in the ground, so it's got to be done right. If he only wanted another 5 or even 10 years out of it, we would probably just repair the frame. He originally planned to do this...

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Up on the lift to disconnect the shift cable and unbolt the body mounts. Up, up, and away! More rusty goodness. Even worse on this side. Think we're going to need some new mounts. Out of the shop it goes. And onto the trailer. Paper sticker on back of engine outlasted the frame...

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Back to the project: The decision was made that the frame was junk and we'd need to find a better one. The new plan is to remove the cab from the frame, and the chassis can go back to my friend's house, where he and his son-in-law can spend some time installing new head gaskets on the engine...

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Do they still have the collection of vintage military tanks and vehicles on display? We stopped there in '87 on the way back from a trip to DC. Jeff

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Facebook maketplace is absolutely loaded with adds for trucks being parted out. Most of them due to rusty frames that failed inspection. Jeff

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

The liquid brine that they have been using for the last 20 years or so seems to do significantly more damage than the old rock salt did. It's especially hard on brake and fuel lines. Jeff

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

I suspect the further west you go from here, the worse they get. This one is the worst that I've seen locally. I took a look at one for sale up the street from me. The rockers were almost as rusty as this one, but the frame was in much better condition. Jeff

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Now that's some impressive rust jacking. Frame must be an inch thick, and it's not the only spot that's like this. Rockers looking a bit suspicious. Peek a boo.... I don't see you.... because you're not there anymore. It's starting to look like this project might be a wee bit more...

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Changing things up a bit on the next project. Next up is a slightly long, 2004 Chevy Silverado. The original wish list included swapping on a better bed and replacing the rockers, which are currently fashioned out of Gorilla Tape. The interior will need to come out to do the rockers, so I...

    What's happening in Bigmoparjeff's garage?

Have no idea if there's anything you can do to rebuild a C body hinge. Best solution may be to get one off a 4 door car. Less stress with the shorter doors, but I can't say that any of my coupes have sloppy hinges on them. No shortage of sloppy windows on the power window equipped coupes. Jeff
