    Options for compatible bucket seats

If you find a bench seat you like, I have a 'restored' power bench unit from a 72 Newport I am wanting to sell. 'Restored' means it was disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and got some paintwork. That was 20+ years ago, but I checked it recently and it still seems to move OK. If you decide to...

    4x10 dash speaker won’t fit

I didn't know optical input would do that. I need to read up on that, might improve some of my plans. Most of my dabbling this last year has been in trying to figure out decent front speakers for cars that didn't have them originally. I plan to start a thread on my tinkering at some point...

Rear seat back on sport fury

That seat bottom and console are a 65-only deal. I think it is found on Monaco and Monaco 500 only. IIRC there is a Polara 500 (Canadian-model, maybe?) but it does not get that seat layout. The 66 went to a standard rear seat bottom and standard-length console.

    4x10 dash speaker won’t fit

Well, there's that! I've gotten some of this PRV stuff recently and I like it (initial impressions, anyway). This DSP is really feature-loaded but it's a PITA to set up. It's almost like programming the fuel and spark tables for an EFI system - but with no base maps to start from! But it's...

Aftermarket Bucket seats because of medical reasons..?

I'm not a doctor, but arthritis is an inflammation of bone/cartilage joints, due to cartilage damage. I don't think I would use a hardshell seat, I would worry that it would cause more damage due to zero cushion. Although it might be the case that you simply couldn't drive the car without pain?

Aftermarket Bucket seats because of medical reasons..?

Yeah, you'd need to get them recovered to match, that's for sure. Not sure how they'd accomplish that, other than maybe a small pattern of stitching/buttons to match the back seat. The darker-red stripes might be hard to lay onto a curvy seat, too.

Aftermarket Bucket seats because of medical reasons..?

@Knebel I remember some time ago you made a comment about a traumatic back injury and I wondered how you've been doing with it. My idea on seats: I've had 2 Lincoln Mark VII LSCs in the past and the front seats are VERY supportive. In fact, the way the front doorpanel molds in toward the...

Question about wiper motor (2 vs 3 vs variable speed) how to tell?

There must've been something with the wiper motor that allowed more commonality for 66-up. But that suggests that they missed or ignored it for 65? Yes on the backign lights. For 65-66, backing lights were standard on Fury 3 and SF, as the trunklid housed additional brakelights, with the...

Question about wiper motor (2 vs 3 vs variable speed) how to tell?

65-66 Plymouth used a knob for wipers. My 65 SF has variable-speed wipers, but I don't know if the lower-price Furys were the same. As backing lights were optional, I kinda thing the VS was optional, too. I did a little digging, from motors I have on the shelf, and some googling. Things to...

A few questions for the experts. 65 300L convertible

Yes, for the rear pieces. Yeah, thought about local sourcing. Seems like the length/girth measurements would make them UPS-shippable, although a quick trip on Amazon showed that a box for each shipment would be at least $10. It's almost a business that one needs to start first, to see if it's...

A few questions for the experts. 65 300L convertible

@Big_John I think I did see one of those sites before somehow. Hardboard and 1/8" plywood are both readily available at home stores, and door cards are something I could make on my CNC router (with a bit of trial work). Hardboard is probably more moisture-resistant, but not as friendly if any...

A few questions for the experts. 65 300L convertible

@Big_John I looked thru the beginning of that thread, I must've missed if you said what material you used for the door card. Masonite, 'hardboard', 1/8" plywood? @ capyjack - Did you find door cards or make them?

    Modem seat install 68 Newport

This is long-winded, but may be helpful. FWIW, I have seats from a ~85 Mazda 626 in my 68 Fury and they have an incredible amount of travel. A 7ft-tall person could drive my car if their head fit under the roof. But would be difficult to find a decent set of those seats at this point. Mine...

    Seat Identification Assistance

I agree with 413, I don't recall those slit-type features in any A-B-E seats. You can look at the Legendary Upholstery catalog and see if there's a match? But they may not have early-70s C-body stuff.

Power window repairs do's and NEVER DO's !! Very painful lesson!

I'd bet none. Last UAW to do an unsafe job was the guy who got hood-slammed by Christine. So was that in 1958, when the car was built, 1978 when the story takes place, or in teh 80s when the movie was made???

Power window repairs do's and NEVER DO's !! Very painful lesson!

Should've told your wife that not many guys would shoot themselves with a nailgun just to get their wife out of such a phonecall. That reminds me of the comedian Gallagher talking about being in the waiting room for an IRS audit, and felt he was waiting too long for something he didn't...

Power window repairs do's and NEVER DO's !! Very painful lesson!

Yes, @Camshaft - good luck for good/fast healing. I've gotta be the one with the band-aids, I'm usually the closest person to the event (which doesn't happen often thankfully because I try to mentally recite 'and the accident report will read '...'). Some years ago I 'nipped' 2 knuckles in a...

Dash LEDs '65 and 66? How difficult?

Update: Got the brighter LEDs evaluated. There is a bright one installed in the 0-20mph area, no LED in the 60mph location, and the prior 5-chip is still installed in the 100-120mph location. It's not a night-day difference due to teh man-cave lights being on, but in this pic we can see the 10...
