I transplanted a 1966 383 4bbl into my 62 newport. I had an edelbrock 750 cfm carb on the shelf and decided that was a good place for it...no way. The carburetor deck on the stock 383 intake is too narrow for the 750 cfm carb. Any suggestions what ( easily sourced ) carb to use?

I had the exact problem on my 383 Road Runner after installing mopar electronic ignition. on a friend's advice I disconnected the vacuum advance. No more problem. car runs great during all types of driving.
