    Rear end noise

The bearings had some uneven wear pattern. Also, the bearing preload adjustment was incorrect I think. After I swapped the gears it was noticeably tougher to rotate the gears.

Center section is back in! All quiet now. Love the 3.23 gears!

    Rear end noise

All 4 bearings are on the way from Dr Diff. I will be changing the bearings and the gears which will take center section out of equation. If I still get noise after this - axle bearings will be checked next. I will check the u-joint as well.

    Rear end noise

Nope, does not change in a turn or a curve. What confuses me is that it is noisy when coasting and not when accelerating, especially at lower speeds, even when coming to a stop you can hear it at 10mph. That made me think the gears are problem...

    Rear end noise

Since I put my Fury for sale I thought I would take care of the only small issue I am aware of. I have 8 3/4 742 rear with 3.55 gears. I have been wanting to install 3.23 set, which I do have. I have been facing a gear noise usually when coasting to a stop, it could be heard at slower speeds and...

    Hemi Fury

That is absolutely true! I installed the voltmeter before the Hemi swap - I had 120 amp Honda alternator (fits fine with stock brackets by the way) and took voltmeter internals and put in place of amp gauge. Now I have a 150 amp hemi unit. For power windows I came up with my own conversion...

    Hemi Fury

That is a good question! Wiring took me a week to get done (working 1-2 hrs at night). I got the factory wiring from the donor, removed all plastic sleeves and followed service manual wiring diagrams. This is too much to describe here, but the idea is to print the PCM pin-outs and follow each...

    Hemi Fury

I have read somewhere that anything below 250 is acceptable. Just imagine - the pump is attached to the head. Normal engine operating temperature is 205 for Hemi. It is expected that the pump will be close to that. Now the steering box is located near exhaust manifold and even though I do have...

    Hemi Fury

The pump noise has quieted down after replacing the ATF with Valvoline PS fluid. I can hear it only when maneuvering on a parking lot and it`s not loud. I also added a small PS cooler. One day after a ride I was checking the fluid level and the pump was hot. I checked the bottle temp and it was...

    Hemi Fury

Well, Borgeson guy said the hissing sound is normal - it is hydraulic noise from the fluid/valve in the box. Vibration reducing coupler can be used to quiet it down. The 'supercharger' whine can be caused by running ATF +4, they suggested replacing it with regular power steering fluid. Looks...

Nothing yet. I thought I would do basic troubleshooting first before contacting them.

    Hemi Fury

I used Mopar atf+4 transmission fluid. Borgeson said it will do just fine. I have GM type 2 pump and the manufacturer says to use what is recommended for the steering box.

Thanks folks! I am facing a small issue here with the new Borgeson steering box - I can hear a hissing noise coming from the steering shaft, it gets louder when I turn the steering wheel. Anyone seen anything like that before? It also sounds like a supercharger on a hard acceleration - perhaps a...

You are correct on the engine mounts - it would be even easier to make those if engine was moved forward. Milodon claims their pan fits c-body. I was concerned about the idler arm notch - their pan is missing it. It might fit though. I did not have extra cash so I made one out of Hemi and...

    Hemi Fury

I took the Redhead for a few rides and honestly I like the Hemi a lot. And it did not cost me that much to do the conversion. I was given the engine as well as new gaskets, rings and bearings. I had to buy rod bolts and a few other parts. I did not buy expensive mounts, expensive wiring and...
