There was an ad for a shop that sold "replacement frame rails" They went over existing frame rail and tack welded to existing rails. They were reasonable. Also old, like me! Google "auto frame rail replacement" and see what pops up. Looked a lot easier to do than what you're doing! Tom Denkler
