There is nothing wrong with a cast crank other than having to deal with the torque converter or flywheel imbalance. Torque converter is easy, they make a flexplate with it built in to. Flywheel will require a trip to the machine shop. The block is a far weaker link than a cast crank is. Kevin

I believe the idler shaft was the weak spot on these especially the aluminum cased ones. The shaft ran directly in the case with no bushings. The aluminum would pound out causing leaks and allowing the shaft to wander around, neither one conducive to long transmission life. If caught in time the...
