1970 Chrysler 300 Coupe - $800 - Forney, Texas

FB Description

1970 Chrysler 300 2 door. Does not have a motor or transmission. Has rust underneath, I’m not sure how deep the rust is. Great project car.

Kinda wondered, two 300s from Forney TX?
Both are at beige houses with carports, but both houses and carports are different.

This car is a good price for someone that can put it back together and perk it up.
Needs lots of work - but at least it's cheap.

Looks like FY4! If its solid around the rear window this is a steal! Look how nice those door panels are!

On the 70 300, gold paint, green vinyl roof and blue interior..............................what was the original buyer thinking???

One other thing that bothers me about this car is that despite very few options, it does appear to have auto-temp air conditioning originally if one looks at the instrument panel controls closely. The seller is also not interested in answering any questions either. I asked about more detail regarding rust and photo of body code plate and I got back "its an $800 roller".

You got more back than I did Steve. I asked for contact info for someone not on FB and got no reply.

Its for sure black interior thats been slightly faded in the Texas sun. Also to me it looks like it was a V1Y Tortoise Grain top which was a recommend combo based off sales literature. The V1F green top was only recommended with green interior on FY4 cars.

I believe there's some fading making the seat cloth look blueish. The vinyl is definitely black.
But the seatbelts do look blue, even the shoulder strap. Although backseat ones don't seem to match?
Someone might've installed cheap blue seatbelts at some point, but I doubt they'd install the shoulder straps?

I suspect a seller of a car at this price doesn't want a lot of conversation, photo collectors, etc.
Likely they are viewing it as junk and not a collectors item, and they probably want a simple transaction with someone that will bring a trailer and cash.

That this car should not have been able to be ordered with a blue interior I also noted in my Chrysler Body and Trim reference book but the green top could be ordered with the FY4 gold exterior color with green interior is what caused me to ask for a photo of the body code plate. Of course their curt answer followed. With the low level of initiative, they might have that rolling shell for awhile. At least when I asked them if they had a title for the car, they modified the listing to include that they do indeed claim to have a title for it. For me, I am not going to bother with considering it anymore. Sellers like this usually turn out to be problems not worth the hassle. And I do believe I am seeing that it had Auto temp.

Have all of you seen the 1969 300 coupe for sale on Hemmings. It was auction and is now make an offer section. It has been redone but was wrecked early in life. Claims to be low mile but has non original engine. Looks like a nice driver quality or better car but think seller is asking too much for it. The last highest bid at time of this writing is likely tops for it.

Post a link to it please.
There was a 69 300 + parts car in IN some years ago that matched that description.
Hit in front end, engine locked up from sitting, white with black bench interior, approx 35k miles.
Came with a 100k+ mile parts car with a running engine.

Might be the same one.

Perhaps, the seller said they owned 4 of them I believe. It is in Jacksonville now Description is similar with bench cloth seat and had low mile wreck and then engine seized while stored for years.

Found it. https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1969-chrysler-300-425005

I had seen that listing before and wasn't impressed with the engine change and battered engine crossmember.
Might be the same car, although the 13k mileage doesn't match my memory.
But my memory isn't always 100% on all details, and the cars I saw here on CL were 10-ish years ago.

Seller says this car has a motorhome engine in it. I would've expected the parts car engine to be installed, but I'm really reaching on that circumstance here.
I would certainly not install a MH engine unless I had no other options.

The underhood details on the air cleaner, incorrect engine color, the dented crossmember, the missing swaybar - all made me think not in alignment with appropriate repair of a 13k mile car.
The $12k offer on it is pretty fair, I think.
