Is it safe to assume they made one 4 barrel intake, one piston and one cylinder head casting for 1972 440s? Not to include the 2 or so six pack cars that escaped?

Im asking because at present my wagon is e85 low horse 440.

I feel with a double row timing set, magnum or summit 6400,6401 cam, valve spings, hp manifolds, dual snorkel aircleaner and the existing carter 6000 on it i should be on par with an hp motor of the same model year minus the windage tray (tho many hp motors ive pulled apart to include 330 horse 383s, did not have them)

Thoughts?

IQ52 shares all kinds of engine builds on FABO as well as FBBO. Always willing to tell you how he got there. Andy F is another one, he's done a lot of work with the new Trick Flow 240 and 270 (Max Wedge ports) heads.

I believe the thread shared above is the one I want to try, a non performance engine you can get anywhere, with a few parts thrown at a stock bottom end, and plenty of power on the cheap. Intake carb and cam, with some ported 516 heads. You could find a suitable head to use vs the 516 and get comparable numbers I'm sure, or close enough.

Yes im well aware of iq andy dwayne etc im a member on both a and b body forums.

I was really just thinking most c body guys are sticklers for details and would agree with my assumption that my shortblock sands camshaft is no different than a magnum/hp whatever you want to refer to the e86 motor as

I have used stealth, edelbrock, and both models of trickflow if anyone has any specific questions.

Sneaky bugger!

The basic parts, other than pistons and cam, yeah, I'd figure would be the same. HP was just higher compression.

How much cleaning of the Trick Flows was required? How did you have the engine setup with the 270's? I'd like to use a set on a future build.

The trickflows were the only heads that didnt have two tight of guides and a great valve job. Machinist didnt touch them just took em apart to check for me said they are awesome both sets.

270s on 505 inch 11 to one motor lunati solid roller indy 440-2 dual plane for max wedge heads.

On every set of Trick Flow heads that I have had, the valve guide clearance was .0006" intake and .0008" exhaust, and for me that is too tight.

Mayb I was just lucky and I know you know your stuff boss. I rely on mopars engines west and they havent done me wrong yet but atleast i have the brains to have my ootb heads double checked
