Bumper Jack instructions from my 73 NYB shows a slot type. BTW, the original Jack I have is gray.

I think it might be more about the 5MPH bumpers starting in 1973... Maybe in 1972, they were planning on that in 1973.... and if you think about it, it was probably cheaper to have one standard bumper jack across the models.

The hook type bumper jack and slotted bumpers started in 1972 on Chrysler products.
