Opinion only follows. Assumes your 1966 Newport has standard, factory specifications.

15x10 with 295/50's will not fit, front or back, without significant interference with body structure and/or suspension. These 15x10's also appear to have a negative offset (something less than 5 inches, so they "stick out" more than a factory wheel) plus the obvious width no matter the offset.

Depending on offset, (somewhere around 4.0 inches backspacing would be ideal) the 15x8, 255/60 combo should work for front or back.

Still could be tight in back (rubbing inner quarter and/or leaf) so please, if you havent, consider doing your measurements on your car before you get committed to using that particular combination.

something at this link may help you decide what could work for yourself.

Exactly What Wheels & Tires Fit C Bodies?

good luck chief.

I have a 1965 dodge monaco, which is similar to your 1966 Newport. I have 225/50/17 on the front on a 17" rim. 275/50/17 on the back. These wheels have been on my car for 5 plus years with zero problems. Other than jacking the rear of the car up by the front spring perch to let the rear end hang enough to get the wheels on.
