7,800 Original Mile Creampuff

WOW Love it!! that's is an absolutely amazing find especially in a C-Body!! Congrats!!! I wish I was going to Carlisle this year..would love to see it in person

Actually, there is usually a 'Survivors Tent' on the show field, not far from the Grandstand. This car should definitely be in that tent.

My newly acquired 1972 Newport Custom. One family owned, from the Flint MI area. 7,800 original miles, unrestored, and basically flawless. Heading to Carlisle in July, be sure to say hello!

so apparently this is not what its represented as ?
(not me buying it - posted on FB by person who was buying it)

BUYER BEWARE!
I had made a deal to grab this 7,800 original mile ‘72 Newport out of Michigan. From what the seller had described to me, the car was basically perfect, and was one family owned. I sent the guy $500 to hold the car until I came to pick it up. I drove 6 hours to get the car, (12 hours round trip for me) and upon arrival the car was much rougher than any 7,800 mile car should be. Very visible rust under the vinyl top, rocker rust, bottoms of the doors were rusty, the trunk lid was rusty, the heat was bypassed, and the kicker was the mismatched paint on the top of the drivers fender, and the right side of the hood. I was reassured that this car was original, unmolested, and had not had any body work done. For such a low mike car, I was extremely disappointed. I was very polite in telling him I’d like to pass on the car, and he’s refused to give me my $500 back. Now I might get flack for this, but I could understand if I sent a deposit and never showed up to get it because I changed my mind. I woildnt expect my money back. However, that wasn’t the case. I even put insurance on the car to drive it home, drove all the way out, and was greeted by a seller who knows extremely little about the car he’s selling, and a very misrepresented car. When I think of a car with less than 8,000 original miles, I picture it to be near perfect. That is not the case with this car. Be forewarned, do not buy this car sight unseen because of the low mileage, and the seller has proven to be misleading and untrustworthy.
The car was relisted for $14,000 20 minutes after I left his house, and the description STILL says nothing about the issues the car has after I educated him on why I was passing on it.
LET ME BE CLEAR, GUYS. I’m not looking to antagonize this guy, or run his name through the dirt. Notice, I didn’t put his name out there for all to see. I don’t do business that way. I just want to let all potential buyers to know, that this car is being misrepresented - don’t fall for the low miles, the car is rough. If you can talk him down to $5,500 and want a decent daily driver, by all means go for it. Otherwise, steer clear.

youre an honourable person @marko. very sorry this deal didnt work out and your goodwill was not reciprocated.

i have made three deals in 40 years like this ... paid deposit to hold car, agreed on price, etc .. two/three i was overjoyed. one turned out like this one. i took a risk and somebody let me down.:(

you have done the profession a favor by reporting on the car. potential buyers can come to their own conclusions about the deal/seller on their own. maybe somebody will gladly accept what you found?

I know i might have, but at nowhere near the seller ask. then, however, theres the whole "it wasnt as advertised" that probably would spook the whole deal for me ... at any price.

i too wont trash the seller. to what end? but wow. what a gut punch. hope you find something nice.:)
it wasnt me that tried to buy it, this was what was posted on FB after im assuming @BWMx1998 was the buyer since he posted the original

Looks like a nice car. I will enjoy following along with your efforts to beautify this low mileage car.
Would like to see the mentioned problem items on the car.
I will also enjoy looking over the car at Carlisle. Hope to meet you there.
Please stop by for the group photo, I think at 10 AM somewhere on the c body isle.

Thanks for posting the fender tag and factory documents for CM23M2C318782 you received with the car.
When you get a chance, please post the door tag as well.

Congrats on the awesome purchase!
