Greetings! After some hand-wringing (...and reading discussions on this forum), I’ve decided that - for Me - the value of having a right-hand rear-view mirror takes precedence over loosing the clean-sided, ‘old-school’, no-mirror look on the passenger side. Especially with a pending 1,000 mile round-trip drive with my car club from DC to Detroit this summer. Toward that end...

I was recently able to snag the Fury-correct coordinating rectangular-face, ‘square-backed,’ shorter-post right hand mirror on eBay [Addendum: Mirror Bezel Part#: 3548592; and Pedestal Part#: 3548582). The pristine, NOS part came with the correct rubber gasket and fasteners. Before having it installed, I thought I’d post photos of the item to help others identify the correct part (including a sharp, focused closeup of the part number etched inside). Also included a few pix from the eBay ad including the gasket and fasteners.

Per the previous discussions on this topic, there are many mirrors posted for sale on eBay that claim to fit a ‘71 Fury, but - while square - they usually have a flattened, slightly ‘curved’ shell, instead of the angled-squared shell that matches the standard LH mirror (see images).

I wish I could use some sort of super-Velcro or a powerful magnet instead (lol), but... And while hardly a timid driver and possessed of very good spatial sense, every time I back into my parking spot feels like an unnecessary gamble. Anyhow, I hope others find the photos helpful.

The part number you listed is the casting number for just the mirror base. Do you know if that is the correct casting number? Do you know the actual part number from the box that it originally came in? As I think you may know, the '71 Fury remote control and matching passenger mirrors are '71 Fury only. '71 Dodge and Chrysler C Body's use a different base as the door shape/contour is different as is the '72-'73 Fury and Dodge/Chrysler C Body mirrors. Unfortunately my NOS C Body mirrors are packed away so I can't pull one out to check to see if your casting number is correct for your car.

Thanks for the clarification/correction, Fury GT: the part number for the mirror bezel - just visible behind the mirror when held at an angle - is 3548592.

In one previous thread, a ‘71 NYer owner identified the Chrysler RH mirror part number as being #3586653

Mine has the shorter-base designed for the Fury, I both measured it, and compared it visually with my standard LH mirror. While of course this is anecdotal, it’s a visual match for the existing Driver’s side (LH) remote mirror on my ‘71 Sport Fury.

I'm like you. I need two mirrors. For the safety as well as for the esthetics of the car having a more balanced look to it.

THANKS Man. Yeah, I just... LOL. It’s funny: most of the cars I’ve had previously have been more ‘senior’ models (‘58 Buick Limited; ‘72 Mark IV; one 1967 & 2 1960 Imperials; 1970 300...). All of them happened to have right hand mirrors. “Disrupting” the clean sweep of the body side (...with an authentic, period option), is preferable to disrupting the look by side-swiping something. LOL
