Good news: I added that ester oil, and r152 (air in a can) works like a charm! Would definitely recommend!

Bad news: still a leak somewhere :( the system is completely empty after less than 24 hours.

I notice the gooey stuff covering the AC expansion valve glows green all over (green from the UV dye) , but I think it's just the material makeup of the gooey stuff.

Not gonna give up but pretty bummed.

Good news is air in a can is only $6.99 at harbor freight.

Back to the drawing board. Gonna see with a UV light tonight see if there is something, somewhere, anywhere. I'll check inside the cabin on the floor under the glovebox I guess

Found this, I did have to remove that tube to get the Schrader valve out. But the fact that it's running down the compressor leads me to believe that is it since when I removed the pipe, I did not replace the seal. It's only $3 at AutoZone, fingers crossed (color goes from blue to purple on cell phone)

Replaced the gasket, a 10 pack of these things is $3 at AutoZone so that's cool. I refilled the system and drove it around and applied black light. I see a little green on the back of the compressor but. I'm pretty sure it's residue from the last time. It's light. and i see some residue on the Schrader valves and one of the tubes is like, seeping ? I've ordered two Schrader valve caps. Basically new Schrader valves to place over the old Schrader valves. Because I replaced the valve cores and they still leak. I'm gonna find out today if it held charge overnight. That tube however , nobody sells lol so I'm DM'ing people I guess

That AC hose looks compromised to where its fitting is crimped on.

New ones can be made.

Finding a good used one that doesn't show swelling and damage in that area will be fine, too.

Most of those AC systems were identical for the same body styling years (such as 65-68), with very few changes.

the original caps for the Shrader valves are brass and have a 45* seat cut inside them that seals to the outer rim of the fitting and should be leakproof...I don't think those adapter fittings you're showing will be a permanent leakproof solution...usually just disconnecting your gauges will blow a little refrigerant out the valves an leave a UV stain there...there's also a product called Nylog that is a thread and gasket sealant for a/c systems....when I bought my leak detection kit way back when it came with a spray can of solvent to wash off the dye so you could tell if the leak was old or new

Replace the Shrader valve on the high pressure side. I have had several leak. Now that the system is empty, replace it for good measure. It's cheap insurance.
