My 64 Imperial convertible has a leak that is coming from the area where the Park Lock cable goes in to the back of the transmission. I can find new cables (Herb's/Imperial Services/Ebay), but I could use a little tutorial on the actual process of replacing it. It seems this is a twofold process: 1) the dash has to come apart to yield access to the pushbutton area where the cable attaches, and 2) the back of the transmission where the cable actually goes in. There's some pretty good information regarding how to do #2, but very little information (that I could find) regarding #1 and the extent of what has to be taken apart to gain access to the area where the cable attaches to the pushbutton mechanism. If you've done one of these and can advise, it would be very much appreciated. If you've done one of these and would be open to doing mine (for $$$) please advise. I live in San Diego.
