well got the vacation time scheduled to go to carlisle this year. my question is what class to register my car in. see two possibilities in the registration form 1) special intrest station wagons stock and modified 2) C-body full size. haven't been to carlisle yet so looking for suggestions. have seen a post somewhere on here where the special presentation area's are kind of crowded. looking for some advice from the experts. car is pretty stock except for dark tinted rear windows, 3 point front seat belts 15" magnum 500 wheels

The classes are there but so few follow them. I personally would park it in C body stock or modified 65-68. By parking with the C's you'll be closer to the other C body owners.

The show is Thursday through Sunday, you HAVE to park in registered class on Saturday only. The reasoning is for voting which is simply peer judging.

Its your choice. If you want to be parked with other 68 Furys, register as a C-body. If you want to park with other station wagons, register in the station wagon class. There usually aren't a lot of wagons, so its a fairly small class which means a better chance for a trophy. The C body class is usually a little closer to the center of the field, so is more convenient to the vender area, food, and bathrooms with running water.

ok thanks. how much goes on on thursday. as my workweek runs fri thru thurs so was planning on attending fri sat and sun

Not much goes on Thursday....thats set up day. I walk the vendor spaces for early deals and get into the display buildings for photos before the crowds get there.
Sunday is the award day....I always stay for Sunday and usually leave after noon.

On Thursdays.......you can sit in a lawn chair with Dave and Mark and watch vendors show up.

Friday.....excellent

Saturday....excellent

Sunday.......you can sit in a lawn chair with Dave and talk to Canadian strangers about weird differences between US/Canadian Chrysler's.

I forgot there is an award ceremony......

Sunday is also a good day to pick up that part that you were debating with yourself about. You know the one......its cheaper on Sunday

It's been my experience that if you are debating whether or not to buy a part you better pull the trigger when you see it.......it's always gone when I go back to buy it.

Yup, thats the chance you take. Do you need it or not and how bad............... I many times buy parts I dont NEED

That's my experience too. I learned my lesson. Now I buy that hard to find part when I see it, since I know it will be gone when I return. But, I still can't get used to the consequences. When I do pull the trigger and buy that part, I then find three more of the same part in better condition at a much lower price on the next row of vendors.

The part I need or is a hard to find part obviously, you buy it, now. Its the other parts, the ones you dont NEED that you wait on. Road wheels are a perfect example. A heavy item someone may not wanna take home and you can get it for 1/3 off

i know the part of passing on a part when first seen only to go back and it's gone or worse yet can't find the vendor because you did not write the space number down.happened to me a few years ago at the Charlotte Auto Fair blue field, red field, orange field ,green field which one was it over 8000 spaces. Carlisle is just a little smaller but still hard to remember where. i have only one part that i have been looking for since buying the wagon which i probably will never find. any guess's

close it's the tailgate lower trim piece. seems the sport suburban is model specific.as the lower priced wagon furyI and II say plymouth on them and the fury III has a space in the center for either custom or sport suburban badging. i am not sure but i think the sport suburban also has wood grain aplique also.

Got any idea what time your heading up Fri will be jumping on turnpike at breeze wood hopefully before 9am I know its 4 months and 12 days away just curious?

I take a wide shot picture of the vendor (and recognizable surroundings) so I can find my way back if it's something that I don't really need but I'll buy it if the price is right on Saturday night before I leave.

I'll leave Aberdeen, Maryland about 5 am and get to Carlisle before 7 am...with a spill-proof coffee cup trying to keep the excitement of Carlisle under control while hammer down on the PA Turnpike heading West and seeing the beautiful Mopar's on the road!
