Would anyone know what the correct battery is for a 1965 imperial? I see reproductions but have not had great success with the battery within the battery issues since they have not held up too well.

Group 27. (not a 27F which is a Ford battery and has reversed terminals)

Cheapest place to buy is Costco, but not all carry that size.

Interstate Battery still builds a completely black battery. The above-mentioned sticker kit would spiff it up just right, I suspect. Order online for delivery or pickup at their various retail stores. They usually have three levels of capacity and price.

I concur with Group 27, but if you are concerned about "power", a higher-capacity Group 24 can work, too. Price them both ways.

The Costco batteries, which are Interstate batteries that are made by Johnson Controls, are black.

BTW, Interstate batteries are made by both Johnson Controls and Exide, but I have read that the Costco line is all Johnson Controls built.

Here's my Wally World black battery with the red caps from the kit. That green knob shut-off is going to go away as I had two failures (different cars) in the past month. One was a disconnect problem and the other was a connection problem. I'm looking at alternatives now.

I got Two "Duracells" at Batteries plus last year. Group 27.
Both Imps start better than ever, "Don't need no Stinkin' Mini Dakota starter" Imperially , Gary...
