Are slab-era front drum knuckle/spindles interchangable (left-right) or are they side-specific?

Drum spindle an swap.

Disc can swap, but it moves the caliper position front or rear of spindle. So the brake hose bracket won't be on the same side and caliper.

Were there any geometry differences in the

- frame upper-control arm mounts
- upper or lower control arms
- strut rods (length)
- lower ball joints

between a drum vs a disk setup that would introduced "problems" when taking the brake-support backing plate and knuckle/spindle from a drum setup and putting it on a stub that *might* have originally been a disk setup?

Because I've done exactly that. Taken a stub that was complete - except for no spindle or hub or knuckle or lower ball joint, and added my backing plate and knuckle (and new lower ball joint). Supposedly the stub had I guess factory disks but that hardware was taken off. The new stub seems to be an exact match, bolt-hole for bolt-hole, to my '67 Monaco stub. Which means it had to have been only a handful of years - '66 to '68 or maybe '69?

I paid no attention to whether my knuckles were left or right handed, when I put them on. They looked symetrical to me.

Anyone know what the P/N's might be for the knuckles? Presumably there is only one P/N?

The only difference I've heard of it the lower ball joints are specific for disc or drum. I don't know what the difference is.

Budd disc brake spindles have their own lower ball joint. Drum 65 and up, and 69-73 single piston disc spindles use the same lower ball joint.
