Working on my '68 300. Waiting for some parts to come in to reassemble the brakes and heater box so I decided to look at the headlight cover motor. The wiring is essentially missing from the motor back so I will need to figure out where the wire runs. Looking at my FSM it looks like it should connect somewhere under the dash near the heater controls.
The motor does work, tested it up and down while still in the car. But the limiter doesn't work when opening and the wires are cut/frayed so I decided to pull it out and take a look. Seems the main plastic "cam" (The big white one) has a few teeth missing. I suspect this would prevent the motor from ever opening up the limiter switch, keeping the motor running when the headlights are turned on.
It seems like this may be a tough part to find so I decided to first attempt a repair using JB weld. Hopefully once the JB weld cures I can sand it down and shape new teeth on the plastic cam gear.
