Heater hoses, which one where?

I yanked the heater hoses off my 74 monaco (no AC, 400ci engine) to replace them.

Now I am unsure which hose goes where.

I have a top and bottom fitting on the firewall. And on the engine I have one thats closer to the alternator than the other. There's no heater control valve in the engine compartment so I guess this setup works with just a flap.

This is from the '73 FSM. It should be the same.
