how a nice build street 440 in a c-body cruiser should perform

Brought back memories of borrowing Dad's '69 Newport 4dr ceeedan, 383-4bbl, factory duals. The guys in high school (1971!) loved piling in and going for a 'cruise'. (cruise meant frying the tire (no sure-grip) and hearing the second gear chirp. Took it 'floating' at 110 once.

Thanks for the morning 'car ****'

Not bad for those gears. From an idle stomp will it spin? What tires do you have on the back?

yea not bad for the gears, 4430 lbs total weight, a hot muggy day, no headers, no porting heads, 1.60 exhaust valve and idles at 675 rpms in drive. 215/70-15 just a cooper touring tire, it has posi and will spin them if i want, I can also ease it out with only 1/2 turn of the tires fairly easy for 2.15 60ft and 0-60 5.5 seconds. 14.08 et at 98.4 mph

i did take the A C off.

Back in the day my fury ran almost the same, 14.12 @98 with the 383, headers, 3.91's and 225/75 garbage tires. It was a cool day and from idle on the track it would dead hook and go. That was the simple days before the efi and turbos and the 383 obviously needed gear to get there
