I’m replacing the timing chain along with a few other items before Carlisle and trying to decide whether or not to keep the stock balancer.

See thread.

It’s fine, but I have a Fluidampr that’s been sitting on the shelf along with some other parts that I got with the car that I hadn’t gotten rid of yet. Maybe better to sell it and pay for more important stuff?

Thoughts?

See how thick that fluid damper is? your pullies won't line up anymore.

What is the engine you are working on, how much power and RPM?

Stock 426. I certainly don’t want to have to mess with pulley alignment at this time. Perhaps I keep this on the shelf for a future rebuild.

From the looks of the rubber interface on your stock balancer, I see no rubber cracking and NO misalignment of the two metal pieces (front to back), so "nothing has moved". Which means it should have more rotations left in it. Might sell the hot rod damper and use the money to get the stock item rebuilt this winter?

Enjoy the trip,
