Memorial Day

American Cemetary in Normandy (France). Like Arlington, a solemn place. 10,000 of the fallen in that place.

My youngest was 6 yrs old when we went there in the late 1990's on US Memorial Day. Just got off the phone with her. She's 34 now and still cries when she thinks about it.

Different but related to today. I just caught up with this one this weekend.

A streaming documentary (seemed factual and not propaganda) on a topic I had to get old to just learn the full story.

What they (even the "losing" side run by the "paper hanger", and the collateral fire that claimed dozens of thousands of local non-combatants) dealt with the 85 days AFTER D-Day landing.

Oh my. Terribly tragic :(
