Hi!
I have a factory isolated thicker cable running from the alternator thru a hole in the firewall bulkhead.
But also have the "ordinary" Thick cable mounted on the stud on the alternator. Why two?

Why it has the secondary cable I have no idea but why it retains the standard wires is there is no reason not to. It is easier to use the same harnesses and just add the heavy duty direct cable. Electric is the classic path of least resistance, so the load on the bulkhead connector is greatly reduced. Also without looking at the wiring diagram it is hard to say what items still come off that wire, otherwise they'd need to still have wires tied into the ammeter.

Check under dash if fusible link is still there. Check firewall connector also, if there is burned/melted connectors.
I think there may have been some problems in past and they used new wired to bypass them.

Thats also a thing i wordering about.
The pos post red cabel has a thinner red going to the bulk just as the charger. Is this the cable that shall have fusible link ?
When i look at a nos pos cable i also see a Brown cable. What is that for?

At this point I think we need to see pictures so we have a better idea what is going on and to tell if it is factory or previous owner.

This is the factory bypass harness (tape has been removed). The ends to the left go to the ammeter, the other ends go to the starter relay and a terminal block by the voltage regulator.

Download a Factory Service Manual here:

MyMopar - Mopar Forums & Information - Service Manuals

The FSM will have a detailed wiring diagram.

While you're at it, get a Parts Manual too.

A simplified wiring diagram here:

This black isolated cable goes from the alternator stud thru the firewall
its a factory cable bec it has the factory tag on it to.

This red cable goes thru the firewall aswell

But the engine harness has a black factory cable as well and its the original harness. Why 2 black cables fron the alternator stud?

I think this is what they done.
But the funny thing is that the second cable from the alt stud are a factory isolated cable with a part number on a tag.
And the cables are not thru a grommet. drilled very nice in the upper and lower part of bulk head

just did that ^^ MAD / Nacho bypass wiring on my ride too, threw the amp gauge out into the street, crimped everything nice and shrinkwrapped up. my ride has what sounds like the same as you - a totally other wire, nicely done, probably 8ga. wire, going thru a firewall grommet - I cannot tell if it was factory or just really old repair, it is properly wrapped with nonstick wire harness tape, hole in the grommet looks like it was supposed to be there, etc. I elected to leave it.

try not to die -

i still have the factory amp gaue but i guess it takes another easier way, the current

On my car there is no fusible link on the bypass and the black wire goes to an intermediate junction block.
