Spending some time on my "Sea" body...

A few years ago I also had the opportunity to visit the Panama Canal. However, not by ship, but as a tourist by car from the capital. Very impressive!

Are they running the new channel now? I was there about 7 years ago? And they were just getting started.
We ate lunch in one of the glass buildings beside the original channel. Maybe it’s been longer than that when I was there.

When I was last there the testing had begun, but they were just getting ready to open the channel to the lake.

The new locks are in full operation. Our ship used the historic locks. Here's the new one..

Looking at your pictures, I am pretty sure this was the building we ate our lunch in. It was pretty cool. We were at a Latin America work event in Panam City and one day had a lunch event at the Canal. Building in the upper left hand corner. It was very cool but we had to leave right before a really big container ship passed through

That's the observation area and IMAX theatre at the Mira Flores locks. These are the ones closest to Panama City.
