I need a pair of '73 C body spindles, bearing races and spindle shaft needs to be clean and un-pitted.

People who have a couple of pairs don't really want to give them up. Even for a couple hundred dollars.

My "understanding" was from an article I read the source of which escapes me and "they" would be my local Carquest dealer.

I have looked up rotors for a 70 C-body on Autozone and get the same part # as the 73 so you know that's wrong but after I read this article a few years ago I checked with my local guy and his database showed 2 different unicast rotors. The early one was more $ than the 73 but it wasn't 4x the price.

RockAuto has them for $100 and it is described as a full cast. Their other one is $107. This is for the early 72 and older rotors. The 73's are +/- $50

And you bring up a good point. If my unique part costs 3x as much as other years, but it is still generally available, I would grumble about the price and use the correct part rather than go to a DIY conversion and for what?

Absolutely. I would spend the extra $100 for rotors and use pre 73 spindles before I would buy one of the paint by numbers kits. Of course if you just can't get a set of spindles (think our friends in Europe or Oz) or you want Autobahn capable Viper type brakes, you have to do what you have to do.

I pulled the trigger on a set of '72 Fury spindles, rotors ect. for 2 reasons. 1st was price....$100 plus shipping for everything. 2nd was that the rotors looked really good and how many miles will I actually be putting on these parts. The guy I bought these from told me he has had the same setup on his '69 ragtop for 12 years and has had absolutely no problems....It's not like I will be putting 60,000 miles a year on the car.
