Where each rectangle is the cross section of the stator.
And where each circle is the cross section of the wire wound around the stator.
Add up the area of the wire cross sections of each and the many thin wires are denser than a a few thick wires.
The higher the density, the greater the field strength of the flux capacitor.

You're asking the wrong guy, I'm just barely remembering what I learned in EL202 a zillion years ago. So I may be wrong.

I'm thinking there's more current from the more dense wiring section. The greater number of smaller wires in the same space should generate more magnetism than the fewer large wires in the same space. The current is transmitted on the exterior of the wire, so greater surface area of the "many wires" should mean more current and more magnetism, as a result. That would be my orientation, which might not be completely correct. Not sure why the thickness of the retainers would be significant?
