who can identify these

friend of mine picked these up at a yard sale that said free. any body know what they are?

I think it may be a socket holder, in which the ratchet, or whatever type of handle drives the sockets, is used on the top to hold the sockets in place while installed in this device. There is a Patent for such an item from 1922 or so with that number, although the original tool looks a little different. Once you remove the ratchet, you can then remove the sockets as needed.

Those would be some large sockets wouldn't they? At least 3/4 drive and 1-1 1/2" sockets.

I have my Grandfathers old 3/4" Drive Craftsman socket set and ratchet from the 50's?....the set is a beast and goes from 1" up to 2". I could easily see it working on the set-up.
