I was told regular units were white and supervisor cars were gold.

same as I thought, but i heard it "from a guy who heard it from a guy" (i.e., i haven't seen an independent confirmation on this).

i defer to you or anybody else who knows for sure:). this '70 pursuit-class Fury is still pretty darn nice regardless.

It's vintage police cars for sale, not used. I'm not much up on face book, but since my kids don't want to use it, it must be cool. lol.

I agree 100% and was advised of this many times by many people. This is a twin to mine down to the exact same blue vinyl floormats. The only difference is mine has rear bumper guards also. If all is "as advertised" the price is hell of a good buy. There is no way in hell I would sell mine for this price. I would consider donating it to the "Seattle Washington Police Museum". Nope. He paid...gulp...23k for it.

I can't find it right now but about 3 weeks ago I read something on Hagerty about one particular car. This said car had been put up for auction five times in five straight years and sold each time. Obviously buyers just flipping the car each year trying to make some bucks. It is also why I hate auction houses and how they have perverted the car hobby. The only saving grace was that the car stayed between $80,000 - 90,000 each time with only two sellers making some money and the other three losing from $1000 - 2000.

I used to own one of the '70 WSP Fury's and over the years have run into another 6 or so. As far as what I can tell, they were all optioned identically. The '70 Fury WSP cars were all ordered Fury lll, white with blue cloth/vinyl and carpet, E85 with dual exhaust, A/C, 3.23 open diff, power trunk, power bench, rear defrost, large front bumper guards and the black center Fury hubcaps in pursuit picture above. The only deviations that I know of are the rear bumper guards and vinyl top(on build sheet of my old WSP). I have never seen or heard of an E86 440 or 3.23 Sure-Grip in a '70 WSP. This would change in '71, when they went with the Polara Custom, all were E86 with again the 3.23 open diff.

interesting feedback. thanks for that input.

the documentation on this one becomes more important. commando1 said it early on above ... need to see fender tags and buildsheet. that would tell us a bit more (original color, engine code) confirmation on what we are looking at.

I am NOT dissin' the car, or doubting its authenticity as a WSP pursuit rig (though the original blue color 72Fury pointed out is outside my knowledge of WSP cars). Its still a darn nice looking C body.

Its just in this price range and above, its value may be tied to confirming as accurately as possible what it really is.:)

I'm surprised member, good friend, Pete Kazmarsky has not chimed in! He has the twin to this car and I think it came from Washington too! Commando 1 I like how you two toned your New Yorker! They should have offered that from the factory.

Thank you.
I've been saying that since the 70's.
GM did it.
FoMoCo did it.
Mopar did it on their other Bodies.
Had to take matters into my own hands.

WSP cars were and still are white. Seattle police cars are still blue and some used to be gold back in the day, supervisor cars like someone mentioned. This car is fully documented. Beautiful car!

no argument from me..beautiful car.:)

do you know this car, meaning seen it up close in person, etc.? . saw the paperwork? "eye-witness" testimony is very helpful (members here often go look at cars for one another as a courtesy if its near one of us) to those who are here because we love these cars and/or are otherwise interested in seeing this one do well in a transaction.

in my view, these police cars "are what they seems to be". "real" until its ever determined they are not for whatever reason. so i believe this a real police car, but a couple of folks have made observations based on their knowledge that doesn't line up with what others of us thought.

its cool .. we all get smarter when the information is shared and then we can make up our own minds as to what we think. the CL ad refers to things - "documentation' - that probably would strongly help prospective buyers with their purchase decision if they could see them.

given how sometimes these police cars get "cloned", and again if a high value, great looking rig like this one, sellers and buyers make better deals when they have exchanged good information.

thanks again!

My car has (as this one does and can see it) the property tag attached to the drivers door post. My car has printed info from chrysler when new showing it was sold to WSP.
Interesting earlier comment on vinyl roof as mine did have it was the build sheet did not list it. So, when restoring we eliminated it and filled in the 6 antenna holes in the roof.
I tried to find any previous drivers of my car by property tag but was unsuccessful.

anyway, that's were it is on my '71 Polara (second pic), as a aside i also could not find duty history on my car, Unit D188

I spoke with the owner and the car does have breakdown of data tag, build sheet and original purchase paper from Seattle dealer.

good enough for me. I hope it does very well for him! thanks for the extra effort!

:thankyou:

Sure. I remembered this car when it was for sale in Vancouver BC a few years ago and he confirmed this. Now car is located on the other end in DE, but the price is better..

I emailed him and has added a motor picture to the original listing on Craigs. I don't remember my ID tag number as the car is still in storage aways from my home. The only thing (minor) I see is the small black piece of rubber that goes inside the aluminum side moulding appears to be gone.
