More vintage Pro Stock

Rick Holiday vs Harold Denton's Maverick. Harold Denton is a local guy. He's been around since the early days. Has raced & won in all kinds of cars

When I was in the parts biz, we had a set of dual plug hemi heads come through, anyone who got wind we had them came in and checked them out. I want to say them were '73 castings, can't be sure. Never seem more people drool over bare heads ever, before or since.

Chrysler boycotted NHRA Pro Stock in the mid 70's due to the harsh weight breaks so Butch Leal raced this B/MP Duster

This is a promo picture for Cyclone Headers. That's Ted Speaher owner of the Missile at that time placing the decal on the car

Big Willie (famous street racer) taking with Buddy Martin of Sox & Martin. That Reid Whisnant on the other side in the gold jacket

1977 US Nationals at Indy. Butch Leal wearing a Hooker Headers T backing the Hemi Arrow out of his pit headed to the staging lanes to face Larry Lombardo in a Monza he borrowed from Ronnie ManChester. Special thanks to Dan Williams for this photo

Bending the rules a bit. The Pro Stock Duster of Reid Whisnant. A very competitive car during it's time. If you will notice the front bumper is narrowed & tucked into the body. Also hard to tell in this pic, but the front fenders are bowed in & narrow as well. And they are slopped downward. Also the wheelbase is altered. The front wheels moved up slightly & the rear move up a bit more. Look at the long overhang on the rear quarters. The Chebbie & Ferd guys where in on this too. Grumpy Jenkins got mad at a fan who had parked a bone stock Vega next his Pro Vega. Grump made him move. The NHRA tech folks had not yet caught on to these tricks

1973 the Missile crew. Don Carlton had recently bought the missile. Thats Tom Hoover standing with Don behind the car

1982. Butch Leal in his Hemi Omni wearing sponsorship from the Rod Shop. This was the last MOPAR Pro Stock car Butch drove. The Rod Shop got a big deal with Pontiac & Nationwise auto parts & hired Butch to be their full time driver ending the long history of the Red & White California Flash Mopars

There are some shots of Dick Landy's Dart sport leaving the line wheels up and the car looks bent because of the curve and narrowing in the nose.

Kevin Maclean from >New Zealand< is restoring this vintage Duster Pro Stock car right down to the vintage Holliday Inn towel teams "borrowed" to to cover the carbs. He bought this from the east coast (same guy in Mars I sent the magazine to a few days ago). Had it ship to New Zealand.
